I said they can weigh that much. Put it this way the last GT I weighed had no AC, tubular K and A arms, coilovers all around, and aluminum heads and it weighed 3190. If you still have iron heads and AC and stock K and suspension you can expect to be at least 100lbs heavier, probably closer to 200lbs. I'd be shocked if you weigh any less than 3300.

Lol exactly I know! Im frustrated cuz its my coworker and I want to be the fastest in the company. I even removed center console and sound deadening for weight reduction. What I really need are tires or control arms

Really? Foxbody weights seem really inconsistent. How is it that your foxbody capri weights hundreds of lbs less than my foxbody gt? Thats a big difference!I thought gt verts weight 3300 lx verts 3250 gt hatch 3150 lx coupe 3050

Only way to find out is weigh it. Find a gravel pit in your area that's where I weigh mine.

Some truck stops have a scale.

And put the damn console and fog lights back in. You have a stock fox. Shaving a few pounds isn't going to make any difference.

Need more powah! Maybe a sticker or two.

Goto the truck stop at the Richwood exit. You can weigh your car there.

And u would think shaving a few lbs frm a stock fox will make more difference than on a 500 hp fox! Racing is priority in this car

Cool I used to go to a gravel place in Batavia but that's a lot closer.

A rough rule of thumb with regards to weight and it's impact on ET is: for every 100 lbs lost expect a reduction of approximately .1 sec in 1/4 mile times. There are obviously many other things that can skew this rule. Another rule that is often overlooked is: for every pound of rotating weight lost, it is equivalent to 10lbs of static weight lost.

Rip off all the GT crap.

And next time ya race take the damn hatch off. That's a good 100lbs right there and it just provides better air flow.

I would always take off the hatch when I raced.

Dude I remember that time at Edgewater when you raced that nasty turbo DSM, I swear I'd have lost money on that bet. He holeshotted your ass the first time but taking the hatch off was like throwing nitrous in that damn LX you had. You had to put 2 car lengths on him by the time you guys crossed the line.

What kind of things can skew this rule? You mean the obvious things like engine removal wheel removal?

Well, obviously, the current combination has to be very efficient. If the car is not running in peak form for any number of reasons, removing 100 lbs may not have much if any impact on ET. Also the base ET that you are starting with can determine if any gain can be had. I seriously doubt that a econobox running 18 sec in the 1/4 is going to see .1 for every 100 lbs lost. You just don't have the power to take advantage of the weight loss.

Racing from a "dig" is pure rice. Grow a pair, take it to the track and race man to man so that there is no chance for someone to claim b.s. for losing. That's my .02.

Dont have power to take advantage? The k20 makes about the SAME POWER and put it in a 90s and older civic and it will smoke the mustang because of the weight advantage. Power level has nothing to do with the ability to take advantage of weight reduction. Simply put lose weight, and if you can hook you go faster regardless of power. How else do you explain a 200 hp engine alone to put a civic in the 13s

The only reason i lost that race was because he has summer tires and i have stocks and i put too much throttle on launch and he warmed his tires. If it was best 2 out of 3 i would have won cuz i was definately catching up.
