So whose getting a 2012 Boss 302?

Well I know quite a few have placed orders, anyone on here?

Who is planning on getting or who has already ordered a 2012 Boss?

My local dealer is not getting one and I have talked with a couple of out of the area dealers and believe I can order what I want. I started doing open track events in 2010 with my 2007 and I am hooked completely and think this car would be perfect. I also love the 2011 GT500 with the SVT package and think it would be better everyday, but I think I would enjoy the Boss more at VIR (heaven).

I think I am going to wait to drive one before ordering because, if it sells as hot as it appears that it will, then Ford will probably make more in the second half of 2012, also it seems to me that production for the 2012 will continue for a while before the 2013 begins. I am gambling somewhat that Ford will make more but based on the history with the GT500, I think it is a reasonable gamble. Why not sell more of a car that they have so much r&d in? Also why pay &43,000 for the Boss at full MSRP (Recaros) when it seems I can get a GT500 SVT for around $48,000.

If the car does not sell well, then I should be able to get a great deal on one. Most of my Mustang friends much prefer drag racing and would never spend money on a Boss 302. I know there are alot of GT500's on lots now and there is the threat of higher fuel prices in the near future which could make the purchase of this car much easier.

Another thought I am having is that the 2012 has stripes mimicing the 1969. It is only reasonable to assume that for 2013 the stripes will mimic a 1970. I would love the car in grabber blue and with some modifications to the rear of the car (still hate ther rear of the 2010-12.)

I love it and I may change my mind tomorrow and order what I want, but I am really having fun debating this decision. As hard as it is, I am going to try and be patient. I would love to hear what other people are thinking who are considering the Boss as well.

On the one hand it's kinda cool but on the other hand like 88Koupe said, just get the GT500 if you're spending that much.

probably most of them are going to sit in a garage and never be driven.You'll see them pop up on Mechem auctions with 3 miles on them in 10 years.

You know, I believe all the people with 2007 GT500's with 3 miles will discourage this from happening. I believe a 2007 GT500 with 3 miles is probably worth $30K tops now. (I would much rather have a 2010 with 5k for 38-40.) As long as Ford builds better Mustangs, there is no value in keeping one in a wrapper. In the seventys you could not buy a better Mustang than a 65-66 and that is why the value stayed so high. Today you can walk into a dealer and buy a new Stang that is better by far (which are being discounted) a 5 year old car is simply not going to be a good investment. Why take the chance with the Boss, too much risk.

Also, they Coyote engine is a beast and I believe the future is incredibly bright for it if fuel cost remain reasonable. Seems that a GT500 with a 5.0 and a blower may be a far superior car to an all aluminum 5.4. I am not saying that it is for sure, but the possibility is definately there.

Right now I am planning on a Boss because it fits what I like perfectly, but I will not pay big dollars for one. May even wait to find a used one. How happy I am with my 2007 plays into this decision. Its a beast at VIR with the minor mods it has.

AND......All the Vette lovers? I just do not get it.

How much over sticker are dealers asking for the Boss? I won't buy a car unless I get it for less than sticker. That's why I did not buy a 2007 Shelby GT my dealer wanted $10,000 more than sticker for. He was surprised at how difficult it was to sell and didn't order the second one he was entitled to buy.
I would have given him a reasonable profit (still under sticker) but I guess some would rather not make a few bucks if they can't make a lot.

The local dealer here in Florida is supposed to get a Boss in soon...he showed me the build sheet and the MSRP was 43,753....He said there would be no mark up and no negotiating...

Yeah, I heard "no mark-up" on the one '07 Shelby GT 500 at my dealer. Met the guy who bought it...for $60.000!

I think they will be had at MSRP, but dealers are trying for adm now. One quoted me 10K and I laughed. $43K for the Base plus Recaros/torsion is not that far from $48K for a GT500 SVT, that I have seen a couple of times. I think the MSRP on the 500 was 51-53.

I will not order one yet, but I will drive one.

I have heard some people are getting them as low as $500 under MSRP.

athough I haven't placed my order yet, I plan on getting a laguna seca as a track toy. There is a bunch of info about ordering, pricing etc over here

Since I don't have 6 figures to blow on the lone GB 302, I doubt it. It looks so much better in GB than any other color. Especially with the LS package getting the red off those rims.

Besides, so far USAA hasn't offered a Boss on the car buying program but I can get a Shelby for what a LS stickers for. Hard to say no to that.

Both the Boss 302 and the Boss 302 Laguna Seca are street legal cars.

I agree the gabber blue looks amazing, too bad its not one of the colors for it.

i never thought i'd say this but the mustang boss 302 is just a better car than the base model vette. i know it'll out handle it and its just more practical. it'll be faster at the track and better every day. plus 10 years from now vettes will be vettes and the boss will still be a boss.

So whose getting a 2012 Boss 302?
