Solid motor mounts on daily driver??

How bad would solid motor mounts be on a daily driver? i know i would love the shake!!

they wouldnt be bad at all just shake alot due to the fact you have no rubber dampener like stock. But if u like it then go for it.

They are alright. Just make sure you get the solid Transmission mount also. If you don't there is alot of pressure directly on the tailshaft of the Tranny. Moroso makes a nice set of both.

Also I put a piece of 1/8 inch heavy duty rubber between the mount and the frame. This seemed to help with vibrations. They weren't that bad but I just tried it and now they are almost non-existent. They are still very soild. There is no movement at all. It just isolates the vibration.

If you run the solid motor mounts, don't run a solid trans mount. You want some give somewhere so nothing does break.

my tranny mount is totally trashed, where do they sell them for a reasonable price?

Not true. The tailshaft soaks up all the pressure. I have seen them break without the solid tranny mount.

Call LAUREL MOUNTAIN MUSTANG... they have some good pirces on solid mounts. Also JEGS and SUMMIT have good prices on Moroso Mounts. I have Solid motor and tranny mounts. Have had them for a while now. I drag race all the time. 5000 rpm lauches with no problems or breakage.

I paid 60 for my MOROSO solid motor mounts. They help put the power where it should be...at the tires. The old rubber ones soak up quite a bit of torque. My 60 ft dropped .1 when I switched to SOLID tranny and motor mounts.

If you have a car that you never race and drive it on the street ALOT then you may want to look at a set of Energy suspension mounts. They are a little more expensive but they soak up more vibration. I drive my car on the street everyday and it's actually vibration free. Some people like them some people don't. I personally love them. My car is alot more rigid. You can really tell they are there. But if you have alot of power the frame usually takes a beating. A set of subframe connectors really help body flex. Again you may want to look at a set of polyurathane mounts. SOLID mounts are not for everyone.

yeah i was thiking about going with the polyurathane mounts, thoes rn about 120??? something around that? I think that woudl be the best for my aplication, since it's a dailydriver and around 500 or so HP.

How exactly does the tailshaft soak up pressure if the engine is mounted solid, and the tranny is attached to a poly mount?
The driveshaft is flexibale on both ends, so, it's not creating any bind...?

I was told that the tranny and motor sould not both be solid, as his would not allow for any(much) chassis flex and 'could' crack the case.

I'm running solid motor mounts and poly tranny mount...

I'd really like to hear the dynamics behind this.

If you chassis is solid. (connectors, rollcage, control arms) You are supposed to run the both solid. If you have solid motor and rubber tranny all your flexing is done at the tranny. If you have a solid mount at both points all the power go's to the rearend and then the tires. Where it is supposed to be. Whats the sense in having solid motor mounts and a rubber tranny. The tranny mount will just flex more. For people who have NO CHASSIS mods I would reccomend poly motor and tranny.

You run your mounts and I will run mine. I have been using them for years. in my neck of the woods and just about everywhere else I have been to a track people are running both.

Solid motor and poly tranny is very close to being solid. They are OK together. Solid motor and rubber tranny are bad.

I have the polyurethane motor and tranny mounts. Definitely more vibration. I wouldn't go with the solid metal mounts on a street car. my .02
