They're either too stupid to shop around or too stupid to read and understand the auction listing (I'm betting on the latter).

Possibly but having sold quite a bit on Ebay over the years, I know very well that bidders don't always read the auction listings. I've dealt with my share of idiots who bid, win, and then back out because they didn't bother to fully comprehend what they were bidding on.

If you look at the seller's feedback, the auction winner posted "THIS GUY ADDS COST TO THE END OF HIS SELL. HE IS A PISS POOR EBAY SELLER!". I'm guessing he is (1) getting out of the sale and (2) didn't read the auction where it states "You are bidding for the amount over MSRP of $28750.00" in two places.

But $10k for a brand new GT... Who would believe they won that? I've seen my fair share of idiocy of eBay, but it's ALWAYS overpayment.

(05 GT sold near my house for $28,550 + $4100 in dealer markup in a day)

I used to sell collector knives on Ebay and I spent alot of time cruising the auctions to see what other sellers were putting out there. One day I saw a completed auction that just blew me away. It was for a knife that should have easily fetched $300+ but it sold for $1. The seller didn't bother putting a reserve on it and for some reason nobody else bid. It's rare but odd things like that do happen on Ebay.

There's also a chance the guy bid higher than $10K (like $25K); but the $10K is what it took to win the auction, and the automatic bidding stopped there. I'm a novice to e-bay; but the transactions at

make me guess there was a high reserve, much higher than anyone should be paying over sticker. Hmm, that link also shows a couple of retracted bids, so it looks like there were a few people who bid without reading the full conditions.

Your post says that your paid $27 for you car. & this guy paid $38.75. I would say both of yall got extrememly rare deals.

I got a good deal simply because I have bought 4 mustangs from my dealer the past 1 1/2 years,, This one I am keeping though,,,

And check the feedback the dealer left regarding the winning bidder!!

"watch this guy, runs your auction up and refuses to pay! VERY NEGATIVE!"

HA HA HA HA thats so funny I cant beleive it!!! Thanks for the rest of the story Phillipe, Thats hilarious!! So the money hungry dealer thinks he's pulled in a big dummy, gets stiffed when the bidder wises up, then blames him for running up the bid and not paying!! I'd love to talk to the seller and rub it in his face, he tought he'd made an easy $10k profit, and then lost it!! Poor baby!!!

Kirka your right that dumb bidder had to have thought he just bought a new 05 for only $10k judging by his remark!! Another dummy, they do deserve each other!!! P.T. Barnanam was right, "there's a sucker born every day"!

You know what would really be fun?Contact the seller and tell him , now that hes done with his bullsh@# on Ebay I'll offer you invoice for the white elephant!!

Yeah I wouldn't pay more than 18-19k Wait a year or two and get one with 2-5k miles on her for dirt cheap. Hell I see 25k mile 03 cobras for 22k, now THAT'S tempting

there are so many threads about price gouging that I Picked this one cause it was first on the list. Seems that pricing has nothing to do with location and everything to do with dealers. Saw a mineral grey GT w/ IUP at one dealership for $26,000 and change. Saw a V6, same color with the spoiler option and Shaker 500 for (drum roll) $27,000 and change!These dealerships are less than 30 miles from each other, so, go figure. BTW, the GT has been on the lot for about 2 weeks now. If I wasn't moving to another state it would be in my driveway.
