Hahaha, that pic's been around a while.

Sad thing is, there are a lot of street driven imports around where I live that would lay the smack down on my car

For example:
This crappy blue civic on the right runs 12.6's all day N/A
And that Red supra is pushing 700+ horsepower

It is the getting up early stuff to be at work by 6:30 AM. Plus I have to allow some quality time at Stangnet before leaving for work.

Off to work, again!

So how much do you think that Honduh weighs? What horsepower would he have to make to get a 12.6? In the 1.5 ton Mustang world he'd need nearly 300rwhp, and that assumes perfect traction and launch. The FWD crowd suffers from poorer traction at the drags due to the weight transfer taking weight off of the drive wheels and all.

Assume he weighs 2,250 lbs., then assume he doesn't have any trouble hooking up, that SOB is making over 200hp at the wheels from a NA engine under 2 liters!

I'm gonna have to call BS somewhere here. Either the car weighs 1,250 pounds, or he's got a much larger engine than the 1.6-1.8s they put in those POSes, or he's got some sort of power adders. It just doesn;t add up.

Pretty much yeah.

At a local dyno day, there were a suprising number of sub 2.0L 4 bangers pumping out over 200 at the wheels.
I have no reason to BS you, I dislike 4 banger tin cans on wheels as much as the next person (even though they are good as a daily driver to beat on). I'm just stating the facts.

I believe that those ricers can put that HP down at the wheels, they don't have all of the components to go through to deliver the power to the ground as a rear wheel drive car does. I would like to see what a hopped up awd car would pull in the 1/4 mile.

The first car (1995 Skyline) pushes down the 1/4mile at 8.273 --3rd fastest 4WD car in the world.

All the DSM's that I see at the local track are sub 13 second cars, with plenty of 12 second DSM's and a few 11 second street driven cars. Most of these guys run with street tires only to boot.

Factory turbo cars are just nuts. Here I had to build up my motor/driveline with heads, cam, intake, carb, gears, etc etc, thousands of dollars of modifications just to hope to run a 13, when all they have to do is buy a boost controller and up the boost.

I am familiar with both the Supra and the Honda in that pic. All I can say is that there is nothing crappy or POS about that Honda. That thing was built to turn and stop let alone do 12's in the 1/4.
Open your eyes people. Mustangs aren't the only fast cars on the road. Ignorance and arrogance is a bad mix. That's what gives us domestic owners a bad rep.

well you suck as well Mr. lilbowtie, how could you drive one of those chebbys

I dont think the claim was made that the only fast car on the road is a mustang. I think we all know that they are far from it.

I think the only thing that was claimed that bs was smelled on was the fact that the car is N/A. You gottta remember there are limits and there is no replacement for displacement.

I call BS to the fact that the civic is N/A....why the hell would it have its passenger side headlight removed? Either there is a turbo behind there or....he likes to get fresh air to his box.....thats something to think about.

it could make 200 hp, but it would be at 8000 rpm. In a light car, thats not a problem. Kinda like a Harley vs. a sportbike.....Harley's have large displacements, good torque, lots of style, but may or may not be fast. Sportbikes on the other hand are way cheaper, have less displacement, less torque, but lots of hp at 15000rpm, and little or no classic styling, yet they are fast. Only problem is that most imports are equivalent to a mo-ped in this analogy.

I kind of lost track of what I'm getting at here.....sorry. Speed is speed no matter how you cut it, whether its from 2 liters or 7, its all the same if you run the same times.

No different than what a shaker scoop used to do, ram fresh air into the intake.
This is at my local track, I have seen this car with my own two eyes, I have seen in the engine bay, and it is definately N/A. Why would I lie?
These honda guys are doing amazing things these days with their motors, why is it so hard to believe?

Here's another local, 12 second N/A 2.0L honda:

you'd be suprised. a new [stock] RSX Type-S puts out 210hp in a 2.0L. I believe the Integra Type-R [US spec] even had 200hp from a 1.8 or 2.0...granted, those are fwhp #s, but with some bolt-ons and tuning...

and it's incredibly rare these days to see one of those little EF hatchbacks [that little blue car] with the original 1.5/1.6L SOHC under the hood. also, with nothing inside but reinforcement bars and a driver's seat, those things don't weigh much.

edit::about the missing headlight, the factory airbox sits right behind it, so I would say it's for getting air to the intake...I think the turbo intake for one of those motors would be more centered or driver's side.

Big deal the Supra making 700 hp probably still only runs 11's. He also I'm sure, does not have the torque to make. I saw a Supra dyno at over to the rear. WOW ! and he only made 350ft/lbs . I admit that they are efficiant lawnmowers, but they are still starting with the same handicap as every other import ever made. THEY ARE TOO SMALL !!! A rotary spins to 9k stock. Great, no troque. NOW stick four of those things side by side, and you have a motor I would respect.

Henry,
I don't get you. You have complained about non tech in tech, you know there's a talk section, yet you post this silly thing here in tech? Why not post it in talk, where you know it belongs?
