I have had to try and get the Cobra back up and running due to other car problems and it has been some good some bad. Here are the current problems:

1) When I start the car the plug wires/boots pop our of the holes on 2 of the cylinders, it makes a popping sound and when you look the wire is slighty out of the hole.

2) When we took it for a test drive it ran fine, but when it was put in Neutral the RPMs would dive down and the car would die.

Any possible causes fixes for the above would be appreciated.

One other question is what size bolts are used to screw down the fuel rails and does anyone have a part number I could use to buy them or can you use generic bolts of that size?

Thanks for the help.

Im confused - how could wires pop out - unless they're so loose, the compression is blowing by and pushint it out? Is that even possible?? PLus - the covers cover the plugs, so how could you even see this happening?

peace

At this point I am just getting the car running again and I dont have the covers on the car, one of them broke as well and needs replaced.

No the wires are not loose, I have made sure they are snug in the holes. When the car is cranked you hear a small pop sound, air escaping maybe, and when you look you can see where it looks like pressure from the cylinder has pushed the sparkplug wire out of its hole.

Is this normal and the covers are there to prevent this from happening?

If so does anyone have a part number for our spark plug covers so I can get a replacement for the one I have that is damaged?

ps It might matter so I will put this in, it is always the number 2 and number 8 cylinder that seem to have the sparkplug wires jump out.

Any advice welcome

if the wires are popping off then you have more serious issues than a cover. If it happening the way you say then it sounds like you are getting blow by past the spark plug, i am not sure if this is possible or not.

Check your plugs

Have you checked to make sure your plugs are seated properly? If the plugs are not seated properly, the blowby could easily pop the caps off. Also, there is the slim possibility that the plugs themselves have been broken in some way, allowing the gases from the cylinders to pop the caps off. It's certainly a cheap fix if either of these are the problem.
