This Saturday I will be changing my spark plugs in my 1996 GT.

I would like to use something slightly nicer and/or higher performance than OE plugs.

I just want to try a plug that will give my car a little "pep", as they used to say.

I am interested in the best gas mileage/performance for my buck.

What plugs do you all like to use?

I'm a believer in the plugs with a GT40 on the box. I know it's not the answer you want to hear.

Motorcraft only, don't waste your time with anything else. We replace so many brand new, boutique spark plugs that make Ford's run like junk. Putting in Motorcraft plugs makes all the issues go away.

OK, I am convinced. Does Motorcraft make a platinum or iridium plug?

Yes you can get all electrode materials. I prefer copper myself.

I've been running NGKs of some sort for over 5 years now. Exactly 0 problems with them.

Yup. I ran TR55s when I was NA. Switched to the TR6s when I threw boost into the equation.

The TR6s are cheap, too. Last time I bought any, I think they were $1.29 each.

OK folks, on the way in to work this morning I stopped off and bought a set of Motorcraft Platinum plugs.

The part number is SP-432. They look like they’ll do fine, and they were only 4.99 each.

I’m not sure, but I think they are slightly better than the original plugs that the car came with. Am I right?

What do you guys think of my choice?

It was the going price in my area for that plug. I shopped everywhere and everyone had the same price.

advance auto parts... put them in the cart to " pick up at store" then search advance auto parts coupon codes. enter in the discount box. 8 plugs was under 30 bucks. it works on everything they carry.

link loads, takes a minute
