With a spark plug gapper???

You can't really hurt them, unless you have platnium plugs because the platnium coating can wear off.....but you shouldn't be running plat plugs in a Mustang anyway

oops, i took too long posting on another thread - sorry for the late post.

a gapping tool will bend the ground strap for you - nothing difficult to figure out.

In my 5.0 hand book it says stock mustangs for 87-93 should be gapped at .054 and they suggest for a "high performance" mustang betweem .040-.045, what makes it high performance. would my mustang be conisdered high performance with these mods? C & L 76 mm MAF, longtubes, underpullies, and 24 lbs fuel injectors.

what gaps are people using?

thanks in advance

matt

I don't understand why they would tell you to make the gap smaller.

In a high performance Mustang, you'd want to increae gap...especially with aftermarket ignition.

Generally, if you have the stock ignition, stick with 0.054". If you get a larger ignition, you want to increase gap until you get some missing.

Of course, boosted or nitrous setups are different than N/A and require a smaller gap

With a blaster coil I run 0.060"
With the msd6a hooked up I go with a 0.066" gap.
