I have 47k and im changing mine because the car is running fairly rough. Get either the stock Motorcraft or some Autolite 764's

Wait until 100k miles. Not worth f*^king something up. Spark plug blow out = The motorcraft plugs will last you 100k.

Blowout is known to happen, there are no statistics to determine exactly how common.

You can prevent it by torquing your plugs to spec and checking them periodically.

Ford sell us a G series plug with more threads now which may reduce the probability of spark plug blowout.

Old part: AWSF-32PM
New Part: AGSF-32PM
The one I use: AGSF-32C (copper instead of platinum)

I would get a shop to do it. Or a ford dealership. I would imagine if anything went wrong after they did it you could point the finger at them. Thats just my opinoin though.

the best way to prevent it is to check the tourqe of the spark plugs every 5-10k or so. they loosenen up before they blow out and when the plugs loose the threads get destroyed then the plug blows out.

Hey guys, thanks for all of the suggestions, I found my maintenance manual and believe it or not the spark plugs don't need to be changed until 100K miles. So I have quite a few miles to go!!! I will check the plugs to make sure they're all snug.

I believe service recommendations are 60,000 miles. as a genera rule of thumb. Thats when i plan on changing mine...even IF they will last 100,000.

I'm a freak like that, i always am doing unecessary maintenance I even have a whole book i bought to keep track of everything i do, install and buy for my car....

Waiting 100k between plug changes? Feh. You guys must trust them a whole lot. Good luck with all that.

Personally I change my plugs every 3-4k depending on how much or if all I was spraying the car. I use the NGK TR6s. But if I know i'm not running any nitrious I change it every 10k.<regular copper plugs> I have a cobra so its very easy to change. Plus i like changed plugs because gives me an idea whats going on in the block.
