120? I doubt it. Probably more like 100. You can't go too fast with 105 hp. These cars don't go fast enough to have to "shut off" at any speed...I don't believe they'll ever hit the rev limiter in 5th, you would be limited by power way before that.

Also keep in mind that the further the speedo goes past 85, the less accurate it is.

I had my auto 91 version up to 111mph via the GPS which was quite a ways past the "bottom out" point of the speedo (100 or so). That is absolutely all it had as I was wide open for about 5 miles...

Oh, and it "shut off" isn't possible...these cars don't have a speed limiter like most newer cars. You'd have to hit the rev limiter which would be near 155mph.

my 87 went 105 when it was n/a.
Granted it was on a trailer going down hill behind my old Suburban, but it did go that fast.

That would be me!
I was stuck behind a row of rv's that were going ~5-10 under, Lots of hills and it was only two lane. It was a dumb move that I highly discourage, But it worked

I only got to maybe 95 or so when I was n/a, and that was downhill.

According to my (probably inaccurate) stock tach and an RPM calculator, I did 110 the night before my car got hit, but that was with the turbo.

I may have hit 100mph in my old stang, but I had an 87 F150 with a 5.0l that hit 135+ I only know this becouse the guy I blew past was going 135
I hope to go that fast in the t-bird. And have been thinking about getting another tc to make a salt flat car, so its funny to see this this morning. I have a frend that holds the land speed record in his class(up to 3l) with an N/A 2.3l strocked ot to a 2.5l at I think 216mph, it has like 13:1 compresion!

Speed

112 MPH @ 5000 RPM in 4th gear. That's N/A.

I think in 5th gear you'd be limited (due to RPM) to about ±140 if you had the power to get there.

similarly, I've only gotten to about 108-110 when my car was NA. Turboed, I may have seen 120, or 125, but that was far from topped out. I let out because the roads arn't great, I want to keep my liscense, and the car felt rickety. Now that I have the C4 in, I am gear limited to about 115, but I don't think I'll be trapping any faster than 115 for a while. lol

What else is done to it? If its a streamliner or something, ok, but it takes roughly 600hp to push a Fox Mustang to 200mph.

I'm a chicken when it comes to top speed in a stock chassis with just shoulder belts. I guess the SVOs were rated at ~140mph, but I've only been to about 85 so far. My record isnt clear yet, so thats part of it. I took my '68 up to about 110, but it has drum brakes. My friend ran me up to about 130-140 in his BPU Laser TSi and I was terrified. Public road....at night....on Pep Boys tires.....in a car driven by someone who has wrecked as many cars as he's owned....scary.

Hm, top speed with N/A vert... I think one time I pushed her to ~105 maybe more...Being that a vert is a few pounds heavier I had to get some distance...But hey route 1 in DE is more than enough straight road to push it...But i don't think i'll ever push that high again, everything just seemed to click that early morning... No traffic, no cops on the radar, and no sleep

I have a hard time doing the "Top speed" thing after the incident last year. I ran 4th gear to about 5k on slicks/skinnies, and the carbon fiber hood flew back. Of course the window was up and I nearly broke it trying to get my head out the window. To top it off skinnies don't stop well and it seemed like I slide for miles. Too scary. I don't even like running the 1/4 much unless I'm on a track.
