I have an 02 and and just very curious as to what it would look like if I took the spoiler off. What do you guys think and also what tools and how big of a deal would it be to do this? Also how long? Thanks a Million

A lot of people do this and i think it looks better without it. Its real easy to take off, only 4 nuts that are underneath the trunk lid. But you need 4 plastic plugs to put in the holes. You can get them at lowes or probably home depot.

easy to do, take a couple of minutes and if you dont like it only takes a couple minutes to put it on. If you like it or just wanna try it go to Lowes hardware and get the nylon plugs to fill the holes. The plugs can even be painted to match with touchup paint.

Well I just took it off and I think it looks good..I dont know if it looks better but not worse. Just might take a lil getting used to it. What are the plugs called that I would get at lowes?

Is there a real, functional purpose for the spoiler?

Your car will look like @#$% without the spoiler. To me a spoilerless Mustang looks like one that was wrecked and not fully repaired yet. Plus you will have two hools in your decklid unless you take it to a body shop and pay them $$$ to have them filled in.

I went ahead and put the spoiler back on. I like the look somewhat but do feel it looks incomplete. If I decide for some different appearance changes then it would look good imo. Sidewayz car looks really awesome but he has other things done which makes it look complete.

I reluctantly like the spoiler on the car, myself. It seems to balance the fake scoop-ery on the sides and the hood.

I've always wondered though why the Bullitt edition, which has no spoiler and no side scoops, kept the fake-scooped hood. It seems out of place to me, and to be more correct vis a vis the movie, Ford should have used the V6's "reverse-scoop" hood.

I thought so.

I always laugh at the ricers with the huge wings on the back. Dude, it's a front drive car, and if you get any downforce at all from that thing, it'll actually make your car drive worse!

I personnally love the spoilerless look, but when they are lowered (Ever since i first laid my eyes on a 2001 Bullitt ) ,and i get lots of compliments on it.I went the full nine yards, and had the holes filled properly.

But each to his own. Some like it,and some don't.But for some reason, some people think they own your,or some elses stang, and like to do appearance discissions for you,or them.
I say do what you like.

i agree, wingless looks good if your not sporting the 4x4 look. plus it really depends on the color of the car, anyways to each his own.

I think the stock spoiler is perfect for the GT. I looked into the Steeda spoiler, but stayed with the stock one. Mustangs look better with one than with out. BUT, do what you like..you are the only one that has to like it.

My son and I just put on a satin black spoiler on his screaming yellow 04 V6 and it looks great along with his dual exhaust and GT bumper...

I was spoilerless for a couple of weeks before the 03 cobra spoiler went on. I thought it looked better than the stocker imo. You have to do something to differentiate from the million gt's on the road

wingless GT's look sick (in the good way). just look at the bullitt. everyone has their own opinion. i say take that fugger off. you can but a paint pen to match the plugs to your car's paint color, and its hard to tell the difference unless you're right on top of it.
