I have a squeaking sound that comes intermittently. It sounds like a slipping belt, but I just changed the Serpentine belt, and the sound is still there. It sounds like it is coming from the top of the engine, maybe the alternator? It also only seems to come around when it is warm out, or I have brought it higher in the RPMs. Anybody have any ideas?

I'm gonna go with throw out bearing. When you put the clutch in, does it go away?
If not, then i don't know what it is because i've had that intermitent sqeauk in my car forever and can't figure it out Replaced idler pulley, tensioner and tensioner pulley, but its still there evry once in a while. Sounds like the exact thing you're describing as well.

finding sounds

get some belt dressing & spray it on the belt while the noise is present this will let you know if its the belt - could be the tensioner wheel sometimes a piece of garden hose put next to the parts while held to your ear will give you the location of sounds

I have a similar sound too. I know my TO bearing needs to be greased. But I put a touch of lithium at the very front of the Alt. and the very back and the sound went quiet. The car was cold when I did it.Be careful.

do you wash the engine or use degreaser/solvents on the engine? if so it could also be one (or both) of the belt idlers. remove the belt and run the engine for a minute and see if the noise is gone.

When this happened to me it truned out to be my Idler Pully and Tensioner...altough it could have been the alt, because that went at around the same time.
