For any of you who don't know the problems I've had with the sound system in my car, brief background info
- Bought car in June of this year. Car is a non Mach 460 equipped 94 GT. When purchased the car had a Kenwood tape deck/headunit and a JVC 12 disc changer in the trunk.
- The day I bought the car the CD changer jammed up, and with the help of the previous owner I was able to fix it. The CD changer worked fine until about a month ago and jammed 4 consecutive times. I'm tired of dealing with it and have since ditched the 12 disc changer.
I can tell you I'm sound system illiterate. Anyways what I need is a stand alone CD player (preferrably one not even with a tuner) to mount where the storage tray is now. I also want something that blends into my stock interior and kenwood headunit.
All suggestions appreciated, pictures are a plus Thanks in advance.

My suggestion would be a 20 gig Ipod that you can play over your FM Frequency. 5000 song storage capacity, I never get bored on the road with mine.

No no no...The car has a Kenwood head unit/tape deck with no CD player, the only CD player is the 12 disc changer that always jams. I want a standalone CD player for 2 reasons
1. It's something I can mount in that storage bin (I really don't like the storage bin), so that Ipod thingy really isn't what I'm looking for.
2. I really get sick of radio lol.
Oh.. in that case get rid of the tape deck altogether.. you don't still use it do you?
And really everyone will recommend something different, myself I'd just make sure you get one capable of playing mp3s.. Alpine's are nice, but expensive as well.. and if you can't install it, just go buy from Best Buy and they'll hook you up for free

Alpines the only head unit I use now, but one thing that sucks about them is they don't have steering remote controls like Kenwood.
As far as Best Buy, Circuit City or any other audio shop, they aint getting nowhere near my car with that free installation crap. 9 times out of 10 they electrical tape everything together and leave a mess of wires behind the radio.
The last and only time I had a audio shop install was a high end audio shop in Dallas, TX. The install was into a Mazda Mini Truck I had at the time. They said they would install it for free and even throw in a install kit to make it look good. Thier free installation and install kit was nothing but taping all the wires together, one screw, a crappy cut piece of black plastic glued beneath the radio to cover up the gap. From that point on...I did all my audio installs myself. Just my opinion.
Hmm I wouldn't of figured they could get away with crappy installs.. they installed my cd player simply because it was a birthday present and 1) my mom doesn't trust me to touch my car? 2) she bought it from best buy
that pioneer wystang posted is pretty nice, I thought about switching from what I have now to that one actually

Ok guys thanks for the tips. Can anyone recommend a CD player that will blend in with this, my Kenwood headunit.

It's a really nice head unit for the money. It was a little bit of a distraction the first 2 nights due to the graphics but I'm o.k now and keep both eyes on the roadEpiKk3 said:Hmm I wouldn't of figured they could get away with crappy installs.. they installed my cd player simply because it was a birthday present and 1) my mom doesn't trust me to touch my car? 2) she bought it from best buy
