When ever i turn my 1967 mustang up it turns off. and i have to turn it on and keep stepping on the gas about 4 times before it stays on and i have to warm it up for about 5 minutes. Is this just the way the old cars are or is there anything i can do to fix it?
You may want to read your post again, kinda confusing... But if i get the gist of it, it sounds to me like your choke is out of adjustment. Do you have a manual or automatic choke? Just because it's old, doesn't mean it has to run like crap
Here's how they were started back in the "good old days" Pump the gas pedal twice, then while cranking, press the pedal slightly. Once it starts, if there's no choke or the choke doesn't work, you may have to "baby it" till it'll idle on it's own once the engine warms up. Swapping the points for an electronic unit and using a cam with a wide LSA will make it easier to start and idle on it's own without a choke on a carbed engine.
