Today when I went out to start my car I put the key in the ignition and turned it on... Now when I quit pushing the key forward to start the car because I thought it had started the car didn't start in fact in acted like it was going to die and it was acting like it was going to start and then die and then start and then finally it started. A couple of more notes to help out it was 41 degrees this morning and I have started my car in colder weather than that with no problem and the lights on the Instrument cluster would dim when the car about died and then got bright again when the car was trying to start? What do you think the problem is? I hope this is enough information, I'm going back to school for basketball conditioning so I won't be able to reply until 4 or so... Thanks for all the help.

battery???----but when its running put a meter on the terminals to see if the alternator is charging the battery, that could be why the battery could be low....

Battery

Ok, I checked the battery and it's not that. Now when I put it in park in idles at about 600-650 rpm. When I was at Burger King I put it park for a while and it when from 600rpm to 850rpm and then back down to 600 rpm and then it was fine. Now when I put it in park in my driveway it was idling weird in park. It would idle at 900rpm and then it acted like it was trying to get back down but couldn't. Could this be a vacuum leak or pcv valve? I'm not sure if those two things could cause this. Thanks for the help

The car is supposed to idle high when you first start it if the engine is cold. Once it goes into closed loop it will drop the idle.

New Info!

Today when I going through the drive through today I left my car running and in park... I was waiting for it to go up from 650 up to 850 like it does when left in park a while. Well it did and I also noticed that the lights on the cluster dimmed and that the thing that shows how much the alternator is charging when from between the RM in the NORMAL to the O then went back up and was fine. What should I do from here?

Could be the alt discharging. Have it checked.
