My steering rack is leaking now, so should I replace it with a new one or get the Flaming river kit? If the kit which one should I get and from who? Will it make that big of a difference for me? Any cheap suggestions, because I just dumped $2k into the car in the past two weeks.

Where is it leaking from?
Are you sure it's not the pressurized line or the pump and running down the line?

And, what did you spend 2K on? go fast goodies I hope

Had to have the tranny rebuilt and just installed my camber caster plates. Not sure where it's leaking from, I haven't got underneath it yet. Trueline told me it was leaking. I do know that I had to zip tie one of the boots to stay on when I was installing my springs, plus one of the lines going into the boot was hanging out when I put the boot back into place.

Yeah, it might just be leaking from the pressure side line, it's pretty common and cheap to fix. unless you're looking for an excuse to get that quick ratio Flaming river rack.
Wow, 2K for tranny and CC plates? you could have bought a new one for that!
But, I know it sucks when you have to dump a bunch of money into the thing and it isn't any faster after the check clears.

Yeah, I was looking at buying a new tranny from Lentech but time was a factor, and even after pricing one from them it was more expensive for me to buy one. Total was $1730 for the tranny. I had Valley Transmissions do it, along with a shift kit and they beefed it up to support a super charger for the future. Plus they got it done in a day and a half, which was the biggest selling point since I use it as a daily driver. The stang is running fine now just wish I had a daily driver that saved gas money since I am primarily in my car all day long. Last week I was spending $30 a day on gas. I might just buy me a Camry in a couple of weeks for a daily, but there is a 928 Porsche in the trader right now for $9800, what a car that would be, but the maintenance would kill me.

Yeah, I didn't realize we were talking about an AOD.
How does the shift kit feel? If done right they can be bitchin!
I'd stay away from the Porsche, but that's just me.
Maybe look for a used Focus? they are fun to drive and easy on gas. AND, you can go out and slap a Fart can on it and a wing and some sticker graphics and a carbon fiber hood and. and.
Sorry, I'm back.
seriously though, that could be a good daily, and your Stang bros can't really look down on ya for that.

Yeah, it's an AOD. I needed something to sit in traffic in. Yeah the Porsche turned out to be an stick anyways. I am looking at picking up a Camry now for my daily driver. Reliable and good gas mileage. I thought of getting a 3 series BMW but the cost of repairs would just be too much. I think the Camry or a Corolla will be good enough that way I can keep the stang.
The shift kit is nice but a little ruff on shifts from D to OD. If you keep it in OD and drive it shifts so smooth. I have this other problem now which is going to require me putting it up on a rack. Every time I turn the wheels to the right when I am stopping or backing up, my car feels like the brakes are on. I think my brake line on that side is getting pinched. It started after I got the camber casters put on. Plus my exhaust is rattling now ever since they did the tranny rebuild. Frustrating!

BAD91LX ... you said you took your car to Valley Transmission. Where is this Valley Transmission located? Cause my friend at Valley Transmission Service in Upland, CA said he never had a 91 LX come by his shop. Just curious.

http://www.vts-racing.com/contact.php - Valley Transmission in Upland, CA ... just off the 210 freeway on Foothill and Benson.

Yeah, there are two in El Cajon. I was going to take it to Summit Transmissions but their warranty wasn't as good as Valley's. This tranny was rebuilt three years ago by a cheap company with a 1 yr warranty. It didn't last 30 thousand miles. They told me this one should last about 100k. I had it built up to support more horsepower. I runs real nice now, it was just tight at first while it broke in.

Damn Brian what's going on with all the troubles with the coupe J/K
Hows Sysco It seems that we are commuting in opposite directions now, my commute from Murrieta to the Ranch has been putting a dent my wallet as well. I've also been looking for a gas saver. Why don't you just drive the Focus and get your daughter a beater, you still have the Focus right?

Hey Pat! Yeah I still have the Focus, but I need an automatic for work. I have to answer the phone constantly and it's hard to do in the stick shift, plus my daughter won't give up that car now. I tried to let her drive the coupe but she didn't want to. She likes that little Focus too much. I might be driving that way more and more now. I am going into work today to see if they want me to take that area up there. I am currently riding around with a guy here in San Diego, but they want me to take a territory up in Murrieta. I am going to ask for a weekly gas card of $120 and see if they go for it. If they do then I can start making some commissions and pick me up a gas miser.
