Ok my steering wheel is like a squeaky door It sounds so ghetto... is there anything I can do to stop this? A mechanic said it was "normal" but I know everyone's steering cannot be squeaking...

Mine squeaks too....

Its normal for ball joints to wear out too but that does not mean that you don’t fix them....

I have decided that the word "Mechanic" is way too loosely used in the USA!!

I still need to fix mine, just had other priorities....

i had this same problem in my 96. i just got used to it after a while, until my ball joint fell out at a stoplight, had to fix it after that. the ball joint are pressed in, so you have to press out the old ones, and install new ones. i removed the sway bar end link, brake caliper and used a ball joint seperator to split the spindle from the lower control arm. pressed the old out, with a big hammer, and then put the new ones with hydraulic press. you probably should get it fixed soon, if i were going very fast when it came apart you wouldn't be reading this right now.

My steering did the same thing when I first bought my car and it was the tie rod. That is a lot easier to change than the ball joint.
