Steering wheel difference between cruise and no cruise

Hey all, I have a 98 Mustang GT w/o cruise control. I would like to replace the steering wheel since mine has parts of leather ripped off the top. I think it will be cheaper to buy one off of ebay then to have it rewrapped. Anyways, all of the steering wheels on ebay have the cruise control buttons on them. Does anybody know if I can just take the buttons off?

I guess what I am trying to ask is, are the steering wheels interchangeable that have cruise control and the ones that don't?

They are all interchangable. You will have 2 or 4 small holes on the back that you won't be able to see from where the cruise buttons would go but that shouldn't be a big deal.

The Haynes manual has some rather specific instructions regarding the removal and installation of steering wheels. You can damage some bearing or something if you do it wrong, can't remember exactly what...

Also, it is dangerous to work around the airbags without disconnecting the battery...
