Umm, yea its because you drive a mustang, its a technicality. When you plead not guilty you'll be able to plea your case. You will only be able to ask questions it the officer is there, also "too fast for conditions" is covered by many areas (weather, traffic, workzones etc.) Plays a major role in issueing that type of citation. If he followed you out of city limits presuming it was a city titty, he would need to call for county or state assistence, another thing, someone couldve called? If so the cop would need them to appear in court as a witness, but beings the question at hand was "did you go by specific location" clearly means that he did not know if it were you or not. Keep us updated, I for sure am interested in the out come.

I'm not sure you want to go into any court case w/o counsel by your side, there is a lot going on, even in the minor traffic offenses. W/that been said does the ticket out-weight the cost of a lawyer?

Man up to it. Either take traffic school, pay the fine or hire legal counsel. And next time, look around before you "accelerate too quickly".

Yeah....You never really said whether or not it was really you in the first place. Just implied.

Something very similar happened to me one time. I plead not guilty and said the cop was just assuming the situation because of my car, didn't get a ticket.

from my situation almost being the exact same as urs i got off and here is how/why. I was pulling out of my neighborhood on the way to a friends house... well as i got on the freeway and off about a total of 11 miles from original point of visual contact with this cop he followed me as soon as i got on the freeway. long story short he pulled me over 6.4 miles after running into me and gave me a window tint ticket. When i went to fight i plead not guilty and when it came time i told my story and the judge before i even got to the idea of the window tint said charges dropped next case. Apparently a cop cannot follow one car for over 5 miles... what happens is they are waiting for you to do something wrong and THAT is illegal.

I would definitely fight that. Theres may be no real evidence that can be produced in court. Talk to a lawyer instead of stangnet.

It depends on jurisdiction, some cities actually have arrest powers within the county/area, not defined by city limits. And it sounds like he was "in pursuit", not just following. Accelerating too quickly while getting on the expressway can open up a huge gap that may take an officer miles to catch up. Even if he did loose sight for a few seconds, the OP admitted to the officer that he PASSED by the gas station in question around the same time frame. Sounds like guilt may have already been admitted. Getting a ticket for window tint doesn't even come close to this. Following somebody for miles waiting for a mistake just to pull them for tint should be thrown out. Trying to catch up with somebody for getting on it while merging on the expressway is something else. Again, man up to it if you did it. Take care of it (lawyer, traffic school or pay the fine). If you didn't do it, that cop has some GOOD luck to catch a look alike car going the same direction at the same time and the court may not overlook such a coincidence without proof provided by you.

Brian is not posting on here as a newb, and has posted a lot of good tech and racing and advice for members over the years. I think some of you guys should tone it down a bit.

Brian, I'd get a lawyer asap, if you can. Sounds like you have a shot at winning. Just depends on the judge. Good luck.

BTW, this isn't a foocking murder case. Those saying not to post it, who cares? It's a traffic ticket. If you think some county judge or DA is sitting on stangnet, you're wrong.

Again, sounds like a simple traffic infraction, even less worthy then a simple speeding ticket. O.p.,the situation may not be even worth getting a lawyer, only if you
1. Make your living by your driving record or having a commercial drivers-license.
2. The fine significantly outweighs the cost of counsel.
Don't represent yourself, that shows a signs of being arrogant and can be taken as thumbing your nose at the court system.
I would just ask the D.A. if I could get this lowered by any means or just pay the fine.
My best wishes.
Demon.

I finally fixed my idle surge yesterday and installed new vss, so i was taking it for a very, very slow troll thru the neighborhood to see if it would stall , went around the block to the main entrance street and when i got home no later than 5 minutes I had a constable at my door telling me someone complained about a mustang speeding thru the neighborhood.........people are very prejudiced against any car that sounds loud or looks fast, the cop didn't believe me when I said I was going no more than 30 tops. So there ya go. Do a trial by judge, more than likely it will get thrown out, it's a word against word, no real evidence, last year I had an exhibition of speed thrown out because of that very reason.
