Street racing prevention in your area?

I never liked 1/8th anyway..like playin 9 holes of golf or eating half a candybar. Maybe good for minibikes.

We used do a little street racing around in my area, but after a while it started getting a little out of hand, because all of the freakin punk kids started to show up with their wannabe race cars and causing problems with Trussville police in Lowes and Office Depot parking lot, and after a while with all the fights they were starting and trash that they were leaving the cops started making it a point to have our little parking lot meet end at promptly 9:00 p.m. Then we got smart and started comeing a little later thatn usual, at which point the police made it a point confiscate everyone's vehicle that got caught there and begin taking them to the scrapyard to be crushed.

Needless to say the majority of us have began making the long drive to Steele every other Friday night, but I can no longer do it, because my new job requires me to be at work at promptly 4:00 A.M. Saturday morning.

I do so desperately wish that Birmingham would decide to make a local track in the area or something.

Around here? I have a theory (conspiracy) that they have flooded the roads with slow moving ricers that get in the way all the time so you can't race.

I've seen these things on tv about the stings they will do, crazy stuff but that isn't what I worry about so much. Things can go wrong, very wrong. There are just way too many stupid people out there. I remember when I went to some of these places people woud stand right on the side of the road where the race was taking place. Even people running across the "track" while a race was going on. The racers also doing some stupid crap and that is when I relized exactly why tracks have strict rules. I saw a wreck or two and then I relized why it was good to have some medical help around. "disaster waiting to happen".

Here they just beat us down with laws that make us fear authority.

That's cool for you and yea I get it. I just dont drag race much..well ever now ,lol. So if I go out again, I am going to want to RUN it!

We have something called the exact same thing. Its more of a circus than racing. The bad thing is alc. is served/drank and then people who have no idea WTF they are doing go down the track...one guy actually tried to come BACK down the track after a run. They have live bands, drifting, motorcycle stunt riding (gets old every round). At least the track makes money to stay open.

The bad thing is a T&T night you might get 2 runs in a 4-5hr period...if you get in line at 4-4:30pm. Bikes make what seem like 5 hot laps every 2hrs. $20 for 1 maybe 2 passes ...sucks

The midnight madness we have is once a month and you can get 2-3 runs in IF you can get a racing ticket as they only give out 250-300 or something...any more and your looking at 1-2 runs like a T&T. Sucks putting up with the circus and have no desire to go.

Friday bracket racing nights are all I care to attend anymore. 3 qualifying runs, and one elim run with the chance to buy back if you want. 20$...for 3 runs guaranteed...less DB's...and some good racing to watch is better money spent IMHO.

Same thing here. That combined with all the dew that is on the track that late at night and no cars leaving good rubber to hook on turns it into something worth doing if you happen to be bored.

Around here they just impound your car, cite you with a $5k fine and keep your car to crush it. About 4 years ago we had the old airport that was way out of town to go to. But they decided to tear that up and force everyone on the streets. Personally I never liked street racing, but I did enjoy watching. Now the cops have cracked down on it so much there is hardly any racing here anymore.

The Atlanta motor speedway has been having friday nite drags for a couple of years now. $20 bucks to race anything you want. 2 hours of t&t then 2hours of eliminations. there's a class for everybody. full blown race cars, street cars. suv's, dirt bikes, street bikes, go carts.
Whether it's cut down on street racing IDK. I'm old and I don't go out late much any more.
