Street tires? any input welcome...

While we have the car jacked up for the turbo project ive noticed i have considerable wear on the outside of my front left tire, So its prolly time to get some new tires. I have some falkens on there now and they hook like crap and arent good in the rain. All i want is a tire that is great in the rain and hooks halfway decent. Rain drivability and sidewall strength being most important though. Im gonna pick up a set of DR's for the track so when i say hook i just meen on the street at stoplights against rice. I was thinking of the bfg g-force t/a's how are they?

There are tons of "which tire" threads on here. I'm bias towards a Michelin tire. They are THE BEST street tires out there, and I don't think anyone can argue that. It all depends on whether you want to fork over the cash. No matter what tire you run, you are still going to spin the tires with a 3.73 gear and a turbo on the street unless you finesse the throttle. I've never driven my car in the rain so I can't tell you how they do in the rain.

Remember this: The best and safest tire is only as good as the guy that is driving the car.

I have Bridgestone Potenza RE-730s. They hook great on the street (I suck at launching at the track ) and are fantastic on the rain. I remember Tirerack.com had them for around $175 each (275/40-ZR17) when I got them. Looking at the Bridgestone website, they dont have the RE730 anymore and replaced it with the RE750, which Im sure are just as good if not better.

I'm also on the 730's. Noticably better than BF Comp T/As (of course new tires are always better than the ones you just replaced ).

I just bought Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's and they hook much better than my BFG Comp T/A's, but they are a little bigger. 315/35's compared to 245/45's . I drove them in the rain today and it was not much different than dry, but I didn't really get on it. They're kinda pricey, but well worth it.
