I have a leak in my power steering right where the pressure hose from the pump connects into the rack and pinion. My problem is I have tried different things to stop the leak. I tightened down the connection there, and fluid still comes up out of it. I tried to put an o-ring there, also tried that teflon tape. Everytime i tightened it down, but I can watch it slowly leak. Enough that I have to put in more fluid the next day. Any suggestions to fix it? Am I missing something that prevents the fluid from flowing back up out? Thanks in advance.

is it the hose? Or is the fitting on the rack Cracked? I would do a close inspection and if the hose is bad i would just replace it. you are talking about a huge amount of pressure and typical stop leak tactics probably wont work.

Its hard to tell, I can only see so much of the fitting and the surrounding area. The fitting is tightened in there and I can see fluid seeping out around the it. I hope that if something is cracked, its the fitting so I can replace the hose, otherwise, a cracked rack...
With the car off, it leaks a good amount, so it doesnt need pressure to make it leak. So I dont know, I guess I will replace the hose and see if that works.

If its a not-so large leak in the hose you can try Lucas PS stop leak. I had a leak in my rack and that stuff stopped it dead. My cars been drifted and everything else and the leak has never come back.

I don't know if its that kind of leak. Its like something is wrong with the fitting or where the fitting connects to the rack. Like theres not a tight seal because I wipe away the fluid and a can see the fluid seeping out. Once it stops raining, Im gonna see if the fitting may be strippe. Could that cause this?

Napa carries the replacement pressure hose for $21. The return hose is another $8. Has new seals on them. Don't tighten too much or the rack will crack. Gotta do mine if it ever stop raining.

Thats what I'm hoping didnt happen, a cracked rack. What are the chances the rack would break before the fitting? I cant check since its been raining. I cant even get my car in the garage because we have too much stuff in there now.
