subs under seats question

Has anyone put their subs under the driver and passengers seats? I'm thinking about using 8 inch subs in a 97gt w/ electric sliding seats, would this be difficult to do? and for u guys that have done it, how does it sound/feel???

Aura used to make bass shaker speakers that worked to produce subwoofer type sounds, but I don't know if they still do. Now those are much better options.

Open woofers = the lose.

Don't expect good sound at all....

sounds crazy to me...i personally wouldn't recommend it. Just my opinion...whatever starts your tractor

The sub would sound fine wherever you put it. The problem in our cars is the fact that we have no room under the seat to begin with! If you can fit a sub under our seat I would be honestly amazed. In an SUV its simple, but in our cars, forget about it. If you are out of places to put it, then put it in the spare tire well in the trunk and get rid of the spare. Thats what I had to do.

i've seen good results with the IDMAX in open air... however the subwoofer is larger then most children, so its not going to work....

honestly, it crossed my mind many times when trying to figure out a way to make a unique setup, and after just taking a look at hte area, there is not a chance a speaker of any worth will fit in there... the best case scenario would be the Blaupunkt subwoofers that are close to 3inches tall. however, i do not believe that the molded dimensions of the area under the seat would allot a triangular sub, let alone a round one to fit within its confines.

your BEST bet would be to look into making a box to hold dual 6" JL 6w0 "sub"woofers and put it behind the passenger seat.... that is about as close as you are going to get....

POSSIBLY able to use a shallow mount woofer like the older alpine type S woofers, or even the Blueprint 1001 if you could possibly get your hands on one, then make your own rear seat delete and use the seat flooring glassed in for the subs box.... i had that idea but gave up on it as i would not be able to use a good enough woofer to my taste.

the mustang is a rather hard vehicle to get a solid sub into without custom glassing.

this is sooooo true! I brainstormed for years to come up with a good location. Best place i found was under rear seats. I would say there is about 1.5 cubic feet of space under each seat(if you removed some cushion). But i just gave in and through a jl 12" in a sealed wedge box in the trunk. Sounds great but not exactly show quality.

i came up with an idea to take my back seat out and build a custom box for four 10's, but after it was all done and i drove around with..i relized my car felt like a v6..so its gone now and im happy with my stock speackers

yeah no way, not enough space. i have a guy that does my audio work since i really dont know that much about it. give hime a call or email. he does nothing but custom work. check it out

I removed my back seats and built a custom box for 2 12" subs and covered it in black vinyl. After 2 yrs of having them in there, I actually just removed it last night. The weight was a little crazy, and it really decreased drivability/suspension (ie. every hole felt like a crater).

I wouldn't recommend any backseat setups, or least similar to what I had...

you think yours was bad whenvever i removed my 4 10's.. it felt liek i supercharged my car lol

wow, scrap that idea, someone recommended I do the subs under seats, so I figured I'd ask here to see what u guys thought.

I'll prob just go w/ a pair of 10s in the trunk.
