"a great place to start with a race motor" yep becuase the ticket to the win is a broken 500 dollar block, that is the dumbest sales pitch ever (what a lame post for my"100th)

They were selling those blocks about 4 or 5 years ago. When the price finally got down to about $249.95, they pulled them from the catalog for a few years. Now they are listed again at a higher price.

a stock shortblock can make a great race block for beginners. My buddy is running 321 at the wheels, for countless passes on a stock shortblock with no issues, and daily driven 12.1 second car, and it can handle more too.

What, do all of you have 40k build budgets??

yep. I do find it nice that Summit actually sells the blocks in case you desired a brand new one. I don't know why everyone is ragging? It's a stock block for $500, sounds like a good deal to me if you can't find them anywhere else?
