Hi all. One of my first posts. Just did a test drive of a GT premium today. Overall, I'm very impressed--nice kit inside, stock brakes felt good, steering nicely weighted, shift and clutch action great, and a beautiful motor. But...

The car I drove had huge brake dive, huge acceleration squat, and generally felt "wiggly" or somewhat unsettled. In the several long curves I did do--it took a nice set and felt grippy, but it felt like the dampers were somewhat missing in action.

The other issue is the damn bump under the gas pedal. I drove this car how I normally drive my others, with my heel not moving from the floor between gas and brake, and in the normal position I use to heal and toe my other cars. There is a small (?2") high bump just under the gas pedal that was catching the edge of my foot. Incredibly annoying--I suppose I could work around it, but what the heck is it doing there?

I need to swing back by the dealer and see if putting in floor mats would help, but damn.

Maybe the Boss 302 will be better, but I can't imagine having this car without slapping on a new suspension, lowering it a bit, and perhaps changing to higher durometer bushings.

Does anyone have any thoughts if the dive/squat issue is fixable, short of going to incredibly high rate springs? I don't understand technical issues with suspensions enough to know.

Thanks.

S

They are all very "wiggly" as you put it. Wait until you climb around the 100mph mark.... have a change of underwear with you!!! Nothing that the FRPP handling pack wont cure.

I totally understand your complaint and it was kind of a surprise to me as well. I plan on doing some suspension work, definitely.

Some of you folks are never going to be satisfied. You would be better served buying a different brand. Come on, wiggle, pedel bump, and brake squat, is just plain nit pic.......and parts dealers agreeing just to sell parts, well really. Plum

A lot of people buy sports cars and expect them to ride like a Cadillac. The car maker has to find that happy medium or lose sales. That my friend is what keeps the after market guys in business.

When I test drove the non brembo 3.73 package car I experienced a lot of the similar issues. When I test drove the brembo package car with 3.73's, it was a totally different car. Much more planted. Much more predictable. In the end, I ended up with a 2011 GT Auto. With the 3.15 gears, I definitely don't get the acceleration squat.

And as far as the remark of changing underwear at 100 mph with the 2011 mustang gt, that's pretty silly and clearly you haven't driven the new car at speed. It's retardedly stable. Also, to top it off, it seemed to take on the new M3 just fine too

I'll attest to mine seeing triple digit speeds multiple times over the last 2000 miles I put on it ... long road trip ... rock solid at any speed, but mine does have the Brembo package. Lots of squat and dive though...the dive is unsettling when braking hard at night since the headlights practically dissappear.

If you read the Motor Trend M3 vs. Mustang article that is on StangNet's home page, they complain about dive and squat as well. With the Ford Racing supercharges now announced (which sound awesome), it makes this issue even more of a concern (not so much the brake dive, but the acceleration squat).

I'd love to hear from more folks who have modded their '11's.

BTW, I teach at trackdays, and my 2 daily drivers both have double adjustable and otherwise modified suspensions, so what bothers me isn't going to bother a lot of people. Of course I could buy a different car, but I LIKE the Mustang.

I'm not having any of these issues with my base GT.I guess I'm so use to the old fox 5.0.I've driven my car in the canyons almost daily and really learned how it responds and handles in all kinds of conditions.

I dont mind the squat as it gets the weight transfered quick for a nice launch. The brakes are powerful with good feel and I've had it in three digit range with no issues.

I might lower it 1" with springs and adj panhard bar but mabey not
