Hey Guys,

I have been a chevy muscle car restorer for a long time and have always used those as my daily drivers. I wanted something newer and switched to the Ford side and bought a 2001 Mustang GT, 5 speed (30,000 miles). Most of the aftermarket mods seem fairly straight forward but I want to get the most bang for my buck. It is a daily driver never sees track use and my wife will use it also. Do I install a new plenum and T/B OR install 3.37 gears? I only have the money for one or the other. I have a few questions if I go with the T/B and Plenum. How will this effect the emissions, will I pass. Will the gas mileage change much and how will it effect the computer? I don't want radical so I figured to install the 70mm not the 75mm. Your thoughts... Also it seems like the two of choice are the Accufab or the C&L. What recomendations do you have and where is the best place to buy them. If I go with gears I will install 3.73 gears because of the highway driving. Also, do you have any thoughts about installing a cold air induction at the same time. I realize this is a lot but I appreciate all of your help. I live in Fallston just north of Baltimore, would like find out about clubs to learn more, let me know.

You're right, that is a lot...but lets see here. First off, listen carefully...SKIP the 3.73's and get the 4.10's. You will forever kick yourself if you don't. Highway driving is fine with the 4.10's...trust me. As far as the plenum goes, it shouldn't affect emissions at all. You're gas mileage will probably start to suffer as you drive it harder because of the increase in performance. I have the C&L/75mm combo and love it..got it from RPM Outlet but can't say that i would recommend them at all. And skip the CAI. Just get yourself a good ol K&N and be done.

I currently have the accufab plenum with the 70mm throttle body and have been very pleased. The car is more responsive and pulls much harder up top.

By the way, the accufab looks the best.

Get the gears, skip the intake. Your gains will be much more substantial from the gears than the intake setup.

The "Dragon" plenum lowered my ET by .231 (average of 3 runs) and I picked up 2 MPH (average of 3 runs)!

Before--14.0x@98

After---13.851@100

If you've got the wife in the car, you might want to be using 3.73's when you are on the hwy. At 85mph I'm around 3k RPM with 3.73's (i've got a 2001 gt as well). If you are spending money on a new throttle body you might as well get the 75mm so you can get the most power out of it (if going with the Dragon or C&L). I'm really happy with My Dragon (www.dragonperformance.net). Also, get yourself a catted X pipe.

1. Plenum and Throttle body
2. 3.73's (or 4.10's if you are feeling aggressive)
3. Catted X pipe (i'm happy with my magnaflow)

that should give you a nice little power increase from stock
