I did mine the semi difficult way.

I jacked the car up, pulled the drain plug and let it all drain out. Then I used a hand pump to put in just over the reccomended amount, leveled the car out and let the excess drain right down to the top of the fill hole and plugged it up.

The car has to be level after you re-fill it for the excess to drain out.

You can also re-fill it from the shifter. Just remove the shifter and start pouring. I would also leave the fill cap out for this and stop filling when it starts dribbling out.

I used synthetic Mobil 1 ATF (I dont remember if it calls for a certain type, its in the owners manual).

Its 5 quarts i believe and get some Royal Purple Synthetic or Redline. Easiest way is simply to drain by removing the drain plug underneath. Then remove your shiftr and poor in from the top. Soo much easier than using one of those little pumps to pump it in from the drain hole.

It's only like 3.1 litres. I use Ford Motorcraft Mercon/Dexron 3, whatever the hell Ford calls it. There are two plugs on the passenger side of your trans. The drain is the lower one near the rear of the trans, the fill hole is up high just a little closer to the front of the trans, right under your shifter. They both take a 3/8" or 1/2" ratchet to undo them, can't remeber, think it's the 1/2" though. I usually jack the car, undo the drain plug and fill plug, let the car down to sit level and drain, go in the car and take off the shifter, once fluid is drained jack car up again, put drain plug back in leaving fill plug out still, drop car, go inside and fiill tranny through shifter hole, wait til you hear or see the fluid coming out of the fill hole, put shifter back on, jack car up again and install plug, drink beer.

Well you dont want gear oil, you want Transmission fluid. I think Its the Royal Purple Synchromax that is supposed to be the best to use.

On this topic, where the hell do you take your old tranny fluid or what do you do with it? Is it just like the old oil? Any Vatozone or Oreillys has a dump take for it too?
