Hey guys I just bought my t5 but i can't seem to figure out how to get the rolling pin out of the shifter block so i can take the top plate off. Im planning a g-force t5 upgrade kit so i gotta crack into this thing. The shifter itself is off i just have to get this pin out, its hollow and cylindrical, anybody know any tricks?

Hammer and punch is all you need. You just need a punch that is smaller than the outside diameter of the shifter block hole.

Just put it on the pin and drive it out.

There are two more roll pins inside the tranny. One is on the shifter fork rail and the other will need to come out to remove the 5th gear shift fork.

Unbolt the tailhousing, drive out the pin and pull the tailhousing and shifter block off together. When you get it off, make sure you don't lose the ball, spring and the roll pin.

Once you have the tailhousing clear, unscrew the top cover.

To take it off, lift it up a bit and then move the cover over about 2" to the passenger side of the transmission and then lift it up and out of the way. What you put the cover back on, you need to install it just like that.

Yes, once you take the shifter block off, you need to take the tailhousing off.

The top cover comes out with that long shifter rail as part of the assembly

Have you downloaded the T-5 service manual???

Once you get the shifter block off and unbolt the tailshaft housing, the tailshaft housing should slide right off. Then you can take the top cover off.

It seems like you are going into this rebuild blind. I would take Mustang5L5's advice and download that service manual. It gets a little more complicated inside, but not that hard.

Unbolt and slide her off.

Are you swapping G-force internals in? It's not that tough to do but i would download the manual in the link i gave. It explains everything step by step.

But if you need any other help, just keep posting it here. I just wrapped up a T-5 two weeks ago so everything is still nice and fresh in my mind.

See http://www.ttcautomotive.com/English/onlineorder/product.asp to download a FREE service manual for T5 or Tremec 3550
You will need the Adobe Acrobat viewer which is also a free download – http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

See http://www.ddperformance.com/index2.htm for parts
OR
http://www.hanlonmotorsports.com/

There is a video on how to rebuild your T5 or Tremec. If http://www.hanlonmotorsports.com/ are out of stock see http://cartapes.com. It costs less than $20, and is worth every penny of it.

You will also need a magnetic base and dial indicator to measure the endplay ($20-$40). See http://www1.mscdirect.com/CGI/NNPDFF?PMPAGE=1290.

The tricky part is that you will need some shims to adjust the endplay in the two shafts: the new bearings will change the clearance. There is no way of telling what it will be until you get to the point that it is time to measure and check the clearances. Halon has the individual shims if you can wait for them. If you can't afford the wait, the auto parts store can sell you some shim stock and you can make your own, or have a machine shop make them for you. The shim stock comes in brass (easy to cut) and steel, in varying thicknesses.

Put the closed end of a cresent wrench onthe bolt, then take another wrench and whack the end of it. That usually always breaks bolts loose.
