We Just bought the 05 Saturday ,i noticed the tach was working correctly on the way home .Today i drove it into town and the tach didn't move .After a couple of minutes it came up to around 500 so i revved the motor a bit and it came up to 1K .I stopped at a friends house and started it to go home and the tach worked correct again any ideas on what is going on?

If I remember correctly that binnacle is a circuit board no lead coming for a tach mechanically so perhaps you're having an internal short somewhere.

Now the fuel gauge is screwing up ,it pegs it when i start it ,then it drops down to about 1/2 . after a few minutes it returns to normal .

I think the stepper motors are bugging out.

I had to replace all of them on my 2005 GT about 2 years ago. It started with the fuel gauge... then the speedo and tach.

Is it a hard job getting at them ?

Not really. Just have to pull the dash panel.. may 20 to 30 minutes. Been a while. Afterwards. .. a good spldering iron and a steady hand. The hardest part for me was getting the needles back on in the proper position. Took a few tries

Where do you get these motors ? Are they all the same ,or are the different for different gauges ?
I saw a pretty good right up on replacing them but i didn't see where to get them or if they were different for different gauges .
I wonder if Ford had a recall on these ? It seems like a lot of people had problems with them.
