well the other day ihop in my car at night and hit the light switch on and there are no dash lights at all. the hi beam light works though. well i drive it around anyway and during the night someone tells me that my tail lights dont work. i check them out and they dont work running or as break lights. but my blinkers/hazards do work,so i know its not the bulbs.

what the hell could be wrong? i just had the entire wiring harness replaced about a year ago. i checked all the fuses and they all appear to be fine. i even replaced the one for the inst. cluster but still no lights. i have absolutely no idea what it could be and i sure as hell dont feel like getting ripped off by my local shop again. please help.

any suggestions or ideas would be absolutely great.

i usually dont like fooling with wiring problems and have been reluctant to learn but this time i will do everything i can. i hate getting ripped off for crap like that.

thanks in advance.looking forward to your replies.

Luke

sounds like your headlight switch took a dump.remove it and check it out.Look at a diagram and figure out which one has power going to it then check to see if theres cont. through it when you pull the switch out.I think the constant power wire is orange and blk but I could be wrong.Check a wiring diagram.heres a website thats got awesome wiring diagrams.http://www.hammar.dyndns.org/~djhamma/wiring.htm

I agree, it sounds like the headlamp switch is kaput.

are you running halogen, or another type of 'brighter than stock' lights? if so you might want to look into a heavy duty switch, or the headlight relay mod. the early switches arent designed to handle the extra load of halogen bulbs, and this might be why it crapped out in the first place.

I did the relays and the difference is like night and day, literally.

You must be pushing something else. That shaft should come right out when you depress the the release button. You can try again turning it to the far left or right, but IIRC it doesn't require it.
