Its going to be a lot quieter at idle and cruise...but at WOT they will be just as loud. The SLP's sound excellent with tailpipes, you will not be disappointed. My brother runs them on his stock 5.0 with two cats removed and stock headers and his car just as loud as mine with a built motor, LT's, O/R H, and 40 series flows. The tails are a must in my opinion! Dumps sound like an old truck and don't belong on street cars IMO. I used to run dumps but the gas smell and vibrations at idle just got annoying! Tails have a much cleaner and nicer tone to them!

It's gonna sound quieter to you, and for the most part it will be, but that's mainly because the sound is now behind the car and not under your seat. To everyone else it's still gonna be really loud, although not quite as loud.
Exhaust harmonics are a funny thing....i just recently cut my tail pipes back off again because they're for a '94+ and really didn't fit too well, and when i cut them off i left about 4 inches of pipe coming out of the back of the mufflers. The car sounded like absolute crap. That really didn't make sense to me because i've ran these mufflers plenty of times without tail pipes. So, just out of curiosity i cut off that 4 inches and ran them just open at the back of the muffler, and bingo it was back to how it always sounded. With the 4 inch pipes coming out the back of the mufflers, it would pop and cackle and sounded like a hillbilly truck. Now it's smooth and rippy sounding without. Who would've guessed 4 inches of pipe could make that big of a difference? In a lot of ways an exhaust system is just like a musical instrument, and changes in the pipes make a huge difference on the sound they make. My mufflers sound totally different with tail pipes too, but i think it's a better sound.
