i'm debating right now on getting the chrome deep dish bullit rims & putting 315/35-17 nitto d/r's on them. i'm debating cause i'm going down to florida in march to the fun ford weekend & that is a 850ish trip one way.
my question is will this wear out a set of d/r's in one trip (prolly 2,000mi round trip) i've never had d/r's before & don't know anything about the longevity of them. & if it is going to kill the tires i'm just going to keep the cobra rims on w/ the 275 rubber on it. thanks for the help

I'm pretty sure DR's have a lot lower life... and to waste it just cruising seems like a waste. Stick them in the back and put them on when you're there?

The nittos will be fine. It's not uncommon to get 10-15k miles out of them.

when I drove down to modular shootout 5 with a few mustang owners one was a 03 cobra. He had nitto drs and drove it 500 miles....raced and then drove it back home to NY.

You'll be fine...we even hit rain and it didnt' look like he had any problems.

I've driven 400 miles round trip to a drag strip with my bfg drs with no problem but i wouldn't chance those in the rain.

I suggest you drive down on some other type of tire and bring the two drag radials with you just in case something happens to one of your tires your not stuck driving home on a donut for 850 miles. Which is not a good thing to do considering i've been told that donuts are used up to 50 miles or so.

Yeah, definately save the DR's for the actual racing. Full size spare = teh win.

I've seen several threads on 3 mustang boards where someone has had the ass end try to pass them while on Nitto DRs in the rain.

Be VERY careful if you run into the wet stuff.

Yeah that isn't that many miles. My buddy here drives 2 hours to schools everyday on the Nitto's. They are definately the longest lasting of the D/R you prob wont even notice any wear at all
