im going to take out ym entire dash for some wire hiding and plus im gonna paint it black, is it hard to take it out? any tips?

I just got finished putting my dash back together. It isnt too hard but you have to know what you are doing, because there are a lot of pieces. You have to make sure you keep track of where everything goes. I have a white interior and I repainted some of he plastic pieces white. The key to doind the job right it make sure you spray all of the pieces with Bulldog, because it gives the paint something o stick to. Other than that good luck!

i pulled my entire dash about 2 months ago to change out a heater core. well in the process i re-dyed some parts and everything looks brand new. the key is in the prep...use some kind of wax and oil remover like "prep all" . and also spray light even coats...i used plasti-kote vinyl color. it looks just as good as the stuff at 50resto..... it bonds to the plastic and vinyl and is great. you can even put armor all on it if you want......good luck

here are a few pics of my dash after i re-dyed it......awsome...my car originally has black interior in it....but when i did the heater core swap i found that my original dash was cracked all to hell....so i got a black and grey dash from a 93 cobra and dyed it.......i think it looks good and everyone thinks its original..the flash from the digital cam makes it look too shinny..its actually satin..

I am having alot of trouble with my
dash I got my car back from the shop. while it was in there they pulled the dash out to change the quadrant. not my benzel around the steering wheel will not fit on.

I have pulled the dash out and put it back on twice myslef and benzel still will not right

anyone have anysuggestions cause this is really taking the fun out of my stang

They pulled your dash just to replace your clutch quadrant?
Seems to me to be a little overkill. just my .02

I've pulled my dash 3 times and pulled others a couple more times, so I've had a bit of experience. Get a cordless drill with a flexible shaft extension and Torx bits for the end of the extension. It makes all the difference in removing & replacing the bolts. The hardest ones are the left instrument surround screw and the speaker screws in the door openings. There are a couple of screws under the instrument cluster, so you have to remove it first. When reinstalling it, be sure the yellow AC vacuum line is attached to the defroster solenoid, or your AC fan will be on defrost always. Just take your time and keep track of the screws, and you should be OK. You do have to remove the console first, and the screws that attach the console to the dash were very hard to remove also on most of the ones I've done. They must really torque them down. Also make sur you put the wires back exactly where they go. If the wires for the cluster are sticking out a little to much the cluster will not fit in properly. Try to label what skrews go where also. Craftsman makes skrew drivers that are bent kinda like a z to get skrews in tight areas they help out a lot. i Can take my dash out and put it back in perfectly in like an hour its not too hard just take your time.

Were did you guys get your dye from? I painted some of my interior and it is pelling off. Also does the dye scratch off or anything? what else do i need to make sure it doesnt come off like names of products? Thanks Sorry didnt mean to high jack the thread.

i got mine at autozone and walmart.duplicolor or plasti-kote it was like 4 bucks a can. i cleaned all the plastic and vinyl with prep all, its a mineral spirits based cleaner body shops use to wipe down cars prior to painting. i actually tested how tough the dye is on a piece from my car that i was replacing.....its some tough stuff. when its dry it fells like part of the cars plastic.

If you want to do a good job you have to make sure you clean EVERYTHING. After that buy a can of Bulldog. This is a must if you want the paint to last for a while. It etches into any material and allows the paint to bond with it.
