TB not opening all the way...HELP

for the last week or two my car has really been doggin it, and at first i didnt think anything of it, but now its driving me crazy. so i had my dad sit in the car and floor it while i looked at the throttle blade open. and just as i thought its only opening to about 60 percent....how do u fix this??

I'm not sure, but I think the tension in the cable can be adjusted somehow- I had a similar problem because believe it or not, the carpet was not letting the pedal go all the way down. I cut the carpet and it was fixed.

also, along the lines of this question i noticed mine is about 1/16 from opening all the way but i thought i read some where that this was built in as when the engine torques it opens the rest of the way. is this true???

No. Ford Engineers inthe 80's weren't that bright.

Besides, when the engine torques, the cable goes for the ride as well.

i might try the same test again. this time, when he gets it as open as he can, see if you can push the butterfly open further. if so, as said, look for restrictions under the gas pedal. if no restrictions, Mike is right on with the cable stretch theory.
