I'm converting an '87 to mass air. I've replaced the computer with one from an '89 but that's all I know about the CPU (Ford told me '89 off of this CPU number "E9ZF-12A650-C2A"). Anyways, now that it's hooked up I'm not getting any spark. I have a wiring diagram showing what each pin in the CPU does but the diagram is for '88-'91. My wires are '87. When I refer to the wiring diagram, it appears that the TFI harness needs to be inverted when I traced the wires back to the CPU. However I'm concerned that it may be another problem and the clip shown in the diagram might be a type-o.
So basically all I ask is for anyone out there with an 88-91 Mustang to take a peek under your hood and tell me if the color of your wires are in the same sequence as mine, and I'll just assume they connect to the same pins in the CPU. I'd show a picture but I've allready made it to small to effectivly view and it still won't fit on the forum. So these are the colors from top to bottom when facing the rear of the harness with the clip on the left... blue, yellow, red, red, green, black.

Are yours the same? Thanks

The harness is the same. You say you put an '89 computer in, but did you hook the mass air up first?

Yea, I've hooked the MAF harness to the correct pins on the CPU. I was just thinking that maybe for some reason Ford flipped the harness over after '87.

I'm sorry, I can't check on my car right now because its locked up in a garage, but I have an '87 that I converted to mass air and I didn't mess with that at all. Sounds like you have a bad TFI module then.
