So how bad is it doc?

Ill post pics tomorrow when i'm changing the rear wheel.

Early friday morning(5:30) i was headed to work in the Mach. I was maybe 45 sec from turning into the driveway to start my day as usual. Drove under an overpass and i see a white grocery bag/paper bag in the lane i'm in.
Only enough time to react straddling it into the center of the car.

Worst Mistake Ever!

There is alot of construction going on the freeway and surrounding area. The white bag was a monster of a stone that decided to destroy everything in its path. Even now i'm reliving the grinding/rupturing sounds that came from the front through the rear of my precious as she screamed bloody murder passing that stone.

From what i seen:
powersteering lines nicked,
center of K-member bent upward,
left subframe gouged,
rear floorpan caved upward 2-3 inches
rear lower control arm nicked
rear swaybar nicked
Magnum 500 18X10 w/ NT555E bent and severly cracked

... ugh....

Good luck. You'll need it.
I had similar damage on my. F body. Insurance paid for it total cost was 5k.
And the car had big gaps in the door and head light.

The stone most likely came from night cleanup of road construction. There is cement mix plant across the overpass aswell. From what i saw im starting to think it was a square limestone type, seen plenty at quarry pits. Raced through alot of possibilities. City is doing some beautification work all along the road too.

Why the Mach? Why?
only with 33k, only sees 6 months of MI. Had it since 7k on the OD. Babied with mods. ugh

I just went through a similar, but a lot less severe of my muffler hitting a manhole cover. Make sure you call your insurance company and file a claim, because your car could very well have a ton of damage to chassis components. Make sure you remember exactly where this happened and be as cooperative as possible. Good Luck man.

Contact insurance ASAP and see about filing suit with the city or company in charge of construction for damages. Can't tell ya for sure if there are any laws against leaving huge ****ing rocks in the middle of the road or not, but my guess is that it's their duty to clean up their mess and remove safety hazards such as that before a motorist has an incident such as yours.

Dang man. That blows big time.

I had a very similar incident occur to me about 6 weeks ago. Ran over a huge piece of cement left in the road by the DOT. It somehow managed to miss everything except the fuel tank, but it completely totaled it and the fuel pump/assembly. Car was down for over a month.

Definitely contact your DOT. I have filed a claim with mine and am currently waiting on a decision to see if I get any money from them or not.

A few years ago, the city came out to my neighborhood to cut down a dead tree (a HUGE dead tree). After all is said and done, the tree is gone and there was a **** ton of debris left on the road from it. I drive my car down the road over this debris and BAM, flat tire.

I called the city, complained that I suffered a flat tire as a result of their negligence and without any debate, they offered to replace the tire. Definitely give them a call (even threaten a lawsuit).

Wow that sucks!... Yeah they may offer to pay some of the damage if you get an estimate and threaten a lawyer if they say no. Man.. that sucks though.

This happened on Ford Rd under 275. I put the spare on and drove around in the service drive, seems the axle might be bent. No wobble but i hear the brake rubbing a hair. My main concern is the mounting point of the rear control arm. Doesn't look as if took a direct hit but may have bent anyway.

Questions,

How friendly is insurance(state farm) when it comes to aftermarket components? Im fine if they don't replace to what i have, original parts are more expensive anyway right?

Where will I get a new Magnum 500 wheel? Everywhere they are on back order. Giving Wheel Replicas a call(originators of the wheel).

As with any insurance, simply save your receipts. And yes, in most cases new OEM parts will probably be more expensive to fix. Also, since you are not at fault in any way, they can sue the construction companies for further issues for not keeping their areas clean and free of debris, etc..

Good Luck man. Call the construction company after filing a claim to make sure they know what is going on too. They may offer you cash, but I still would wait until you see an estimate to take a check.

Ah, I hate Ford Road I have State Farm, and when my last 'Stang was totalled out, they didn't bat an eye at any of my mods. However, I remember we used to have a member here that had a yellow Cobra, and he had worried about his subframe connectors being an issue with his insurance after his car had been T-boned. I can't remember what the outcome was, but I think he got paid regardless. Pretty sure he got a 'vette...

Dude that's terrible. As others have said call the DOT in your state, explain what happened, and offer to send pictures. Did you happen to get a picture of the rock in the road? If you haven't already done so, go get a picture of this rock and if it isn't there anymore take pictures of where you ran into it along with any scrapes in the concrete/asphalt caused by the collison between your car and the rock. Too bad you didn't call the cops to the scene. Then it would be on record. For the benefit of everyone reading this thread, always call the police to the scene of an accident like this. It's the best way to ensure the insurance company doesn't put you at fault.

Update.
Good and bad news. Total damage is $6,000 so far.
No dice on the City taking fault. They had to admit to leaving debris for State Farm to go after them, what ev...
My wheels are no longer made with the offset for 99-04, as wheel replicas sold off the molds.
Working with the shop ill be getting 2 new rears, new tires, and spacers for the correct offset. New K-member, control arms, sway bars etc. etc. Everything that got damaged is getting replaced with FORD stuff, no non-oem here.

One thing that i was concerned with is how well the shop can pull/straighten the floor pan. They said they'll attempt it, but if no go it will have to get cut out/replaced. Ugh. They don't think alignment will be a problem on locations of the dent.

One thing they haven't got to(trying to get it drivable first), is the rear axle shafts. i believe the shaft is bent. I heard the rear brake squeaking while moving.

Those 5.0's are looking real nice right now...
