I saw a dark gray SS the other day and I have to say that thing looks damn good. The rear not so much but from every other angle it looks pretty mean. Especially the front end. Speaking of v6's, now there is talk of Ford stepping up the power in their v6 Mustang.

Im a Chevy guy myself and I dont really care for it.

The Engines are awesome, dont get me wrong. But they are stuffed in fat pigs with poor visibility. Its just not a Ponycar anymore, its a Sedan with 2 doors.

I second that. The gray and black are pretty sick. One pulled up next to me when i was in my Turbo SVO, those things sound pretty wicked even being stock.

Don't you have a Jetta?

I saw one in person the other day. It looked good to me!

its no longer a muscle car its a status symbol. love the motor, not a fan of the body.I would rather have a challenger with a 6 speed. if they came out with a cuda version that would be even better

I don't know about "status symbol"? lol

The new Camaro and Challenger come off more like "cruisers" than Pony cars but the Camaro can move. If I were currently in the market for a brand new Pony car this would be my order of interest:

1) Camaro SS
2) Mustang GT (based on current GT)
3) Challenger R/T

I think the Challenger is the best-looking of the three but it also strikes me as the least exciting to drive. The Camaro's interior would definitley take some getting used to. For me the Camaro wins out over the Mustang based on power and, imo, a better-looking exterior. If/when the 400hp GT comes out that would be my #1 choice. And for crying out loud, can we get a 6-speed?

A "muscle car" used to be a mid-size car offered in bare-bones no-option trim with a big honkin' motor dropped into it.

A "pony car" used to be a small, lightweight car with a decent small-block (or even a big-block) V8 available to plug in there.

Either kind of car used to be affordable for nearly any working-class person, as they were either no-optioned or minimally-optioned and/or based upon cheaper, existing frames and parts (such as the Ford Falcon).

Nowadays, everything is loaded to the gills with stupid luxury items (GPS, electric this, heated that, automatic everything), they're all almost as heavy as an 80's Lincoln Town Car, and because they're so overloaded and so much money is poured into vehicle-specific development of parts, bodywork, and everything else (plus the dealerships love to tack on ridiculous price mark-ups), they all cost WAY more than they should.

The new Camaro looks pretty sinister in all-black, but I sure as hell would never want to buy one. Crappy visibility, ridiculously huge wheels/tires (you'd have to take out a small loan just to put a new set of tires on that sucker), and GM's questionable future would be three reasons I could think of right off the top of my head for not wanting one.

Saw my first one in person today. Ugly as sin. You could give me one, but I'd probably just take it down the street and trade it in on a Mustang.

I love the Camaro. In fact I truly love the current big 3. Mustang (of course), Camaro, and Challenger. If I had the money and a 3 bay garage, I'd own them all.

I saw a black one the other day, I thought it looked sinister.

I love the Challengers looks, but they're friggen huge; I was sitting behind one on the Fox and I felt like I was behind a Dodge Ram. If I had the money I'd still buy one.

I have yet to see a '09 Mustang on the street, I gotta stop by the dealer so I can make my final judgment on the rear end.

Been there, done that, threw up a little bit in my mouth - a maroon '09 GT 'vert with a tan top Lynn and I saw in Jerome a few weeks ago. The rear end on those cars is ugly, on its own, but those accents they put around the tail lenses are frickin' hideous.

The new camaros are pretty cool. Especially the front ends. The dodge is ok, its way too big though. Saw my first 09 mustang the other day...black hardtop. The rear on those things are awful! It usually takes me a while to get used to them.

Maybe you guys mean the '10? The 09 is the same as the 05-08.
