Yeah, unfortunately most of us are incurably infected with Mod Fever. The worst part is that there are new strains of this infection coming out all the time but there are no vaccines to prevent it.
Anyone who's insane enough (in a good way) to buy a new Camaro, Challenger, or Mustang definitely isn't going to leave it bone stock. After all, if you have 400+hp to begin with you'll wanna shoot for at least 500 right?

A week ago I rode in a new Camaro SS automatic. My buddy rented the car from the airport after he flew in. He was on the fence about buying a New Mustang GT or a New Camaro SS. He was disappointed with the new Camaro. We flogged it, brake standed it, threw it out sideways and mashed it - you name it and we couldn't get the tires to break loose spinning - forget about a smokey burnout. We played with the traction control NO SPIN! I mean we beat this thing. We were very puzzled. Now it did accelerate nice but forget burnouts of any kind atleast in the automatic car. Could the rental cars possible be "limited" due to freaks like my buddy and me flogging it? Maybe. But then i spoke with a couple of guys I know tight with 2-3 of the GM development boys that worked directly on the Camaro program. One of the guys worked in the platform packaging department. Answer i got in regards to this is due to the 100,000 mile warrantee the automatic cars have a "Torque Management System" that overides the wheel spin? Maybe you have to get a stick car for the burnouts. Boy how disappointing would that be - you buy a new SS Camaro but want an auto - get home and you can't even boil the hides?????!!!!!!

Just my 2 cents worth of experience

if your buying a new Camaro SS, and you get an automatic, you deserve to never do a burnout again.

GM probly did do that "torque management system" to punish people for being vaginas and buying an auto

I would take a 5r in a new 'stang any day of the week.

2800 stall and a 4.10 gear moves them along just dandy.

I'm sure there will be a tune to overide that set up. I'm also sure someone is already working on a magic stick to help the 'Maro churn out 500ftlbs to the rear tires and before you know it, it will be a high 11 second naturally aspirated pig.

These new retro cars are getting old....I am sick of them....I saw a 2010 mustang at a car show the other day the thing is HUGE......I am no a fan....I will stick to my new edge and fox cars....that 2010 was parked by a fox it looked like a giant.....I am not a fan of the 05 up cars at all.....they do nothing for me....in fact all these retro cars are huge and ugly.......

Saw a 2010 Mustang drive by me at dusk last night...and although I'm not a huge fan of the rear end when I'm standing there and looking at it, that LED rear end sure looked nice as he was driving by and touching the brakes.

I'd rather have a resto-mod. a termi suspension and drive train into a 67-69 fast back or LSX based drive train and suspension into a 67-68 F-body. that would be the hawtness....

They are really no bigger than the S197, just more meat to the shoulders/higher beltline that gives it more bulk/muscle

Park one next to a Camaro or better yet a Challenger, and the Mustang becomes a micro machine.

It's the next Civic i hate to say it.

The G35 boards are full of ex civic owners who toss purple HID's tacky 20" rims, fart cans and stick blue LED's everywhere on these cars. You can pick up a 2003 model for around $15K...which puts it in reach of a lot of 18-21 year olds. You get a lot of "Future turbo swap" members who don't know a think about cars but want to put a turbo on and tune it themselves.

Sad thing is with a few mods, it is a solid 13 sec car...even the 4-door.

Give it a couple years and you'll see

I drove my buddies 05 GT that was stock except for a catback, the car rode and drove nice, it was smooth and pretty tight, but to me it had NO BALLS, my 09 WRX would smoke that thing... and i am not proud of that one bit. All the new cars are pigs, if they weighed 500 pounds less then it would be a different story

The 4.6 3V is nutless in the low RPM's. It pulls pretty well up top, you just gotta know how to drive it.

The 09 WRX is an absolute animal. I see no shame in being (slightly) slower than a turbocharged 260hp AWD car that is much ligher. The WRX gives up 40hp on an 05-09 GT, but more than makes up for it in weight savings, instant power and AWD.

Speaking from someone over 6ft, I find the restyle a welcome change. No more reclining the driver’s seat to an uncomfortable ghetto-lean to prevent banging my head on the roof liner. No more looking through the top tint of the windshield banner, just to to see the road through the windshield.

The S197 is the perfect tall person car. Yes it’s bigger, but really...who cares. It’s all in perception. It still runs circles around the previous models all the way across the board. Large sized, or not.

for once i can agree with you, im a large dude too and sitting in my fox is a joke, its not sitting as much as a contortionist routine, my feet are large enough when i drive they hit the dash and anthing else underneath and before the harnesses i hit my head on the roof all the time

That’s fine, except when the top is back up on the vert, you're loosing another inch of head room still beyond that of the hard top.

I tried running around in an SN95 convertible a while back and it was a joke. I felt like I was in a clown car. With the addition of the power seat, combined with the extra thick convertible top, I actually found it worse than my last Fox body hard top for head room....although I imaging a Fox convertible with a power drivers seat would be much the same.

With the static charge I keep getting from my head constantly rubbing against the roof liner I thought I was going to blow the thing up if I pulled into a fuel stop and stepped out into an area with gas fumes.

Both my father and brother mounted their seats on the floor board to sure that issue... They are both over 6' with taller upper bodies and with helmuts on they had the seats so far back, neither could reach 3rd gear.

The S197 is a tall persons car, although the side to side room I don't think is any larger (center console to door room that is).
