Got in a wreck July 16, 2005, have been in and out of shops and dealing with insurance ever since. Now, finally, the car is within a week or two of being back in my hands and I realized that I hadn't ever posted about it here. So:

I was driving on a six-lane road with a small concrete median with very few other cars on the road, just before dusk (still pretty light, but I had my running lights on anyway, always do). I'm in the centermost lane (median right to my left) and about to enter an intersection, and some 17-year-old new female driver turned across my lane from the facing direction. Below are the results:

More of these photos <a href="http://www.gellpak.com/images/wreck">here</a>.

... bent the frame a bit, had to have one frame rail straightened and the other straight up replaced. Here are some photos of it in the shop in the past couple of weeks:

That was on the frame puller and with the new fenders hanging for alignment. A week later, various other body prep jobs that needed doing were in the works:

... and that was last Friday. I expect I'll have some more to show in the next few days, and I should have it back within a week or two.

Also, just (finally) got word about the insurance decision. They couldn't decide fault. Each company pays its own policy-holder's damage. Mother Fu*ker. I even had a witness that corroborated my statement, but the other company sweated her into retracting her statement.

If a car enters your lane, how is it possibly your fault? What did the police say?

This is why I'm convinced insurance companies are the most evil organizations in the world.

The police originally cited her with a ticket, but when the witness retracted her statement they voided the ticket too. The problem was that it was under an intersection, and they couldn't prove which way the light was set at that moment.

Nationwide. Had State Farm but my sister wrecked her 944 about 6 months before this and they dropped us.
