So what are the pros and cons of the switch. Dont care about the cost of the oil just the life and performance of the engine. My car has 56 k on it. Is it ever too late to switch.

there is no reason not to switch to synthetic other than price.

itll only leak if your engien already HAS leaks - that are clogged up by the crap in your dino oil. in which case it shoudl be fixed anyway.

Yes, you can switch at any time. It doesn't much matter.

The only disadvantage to synthetic oil is the price. This is lessened by quite a bit when you factor in the longer OCI's.

Mobil1 remains a good synthetic, even though they've changed their base stocks. Now, they're pretty much even with other, readily available synthetic oils. Mobil1, Penzoil Platinum, and Castol Syntec are probably your best options if you're just driving to a store and buying them.

thought you weren't supposed to use syntetic with a power adder?

N/A I see no reason not to. I use a dual blend because of temps and stuff here, other wise I'd be full synthetic all the time.
