Installed new TPS, no difference. It now revs from 1400-1800 and holds until the wheels stop moving. Its just not normal.

Some new findings today.

a) The a/c sends the rpm's into a tizzy. The compressor is kicking on and off anywhere from every 8 to 20 seconds, but its ice cold. It is also putting a strain on the motor that I did not expect from a V8.

b) I noticed for the first time today, when I let off the gas and let the engine slow me down, well it doesnt. It holds a steady speed for several seconds and then the rpm begins to jump up and down. After a few seconds the rpm's start to drop slowly and return to normal.

C) I dont hear the popping in the exhaust from the copper pipe cap I installed in the IAC tube. Why? Because when I let off the gas and coast on the engine the rpm's dont drop, they jump in between 1400-1600.

D) Im aggrivated, but I wont stop. I am determined to fix this. Problem is, I test drove the car hard. Short of beating on it, I really put it through the paces. Did something short out from the engoine getting wet because of the "functional hood scoop"(see other thread)? I will prove this car a wothy purchase. My WIFE will accept nothing less, or I will be sleeping in the FX4!

No success yet. So far I have replaced the IAC valve, TPS, and tightened all connections on the CAI. I also sprayed carb cleaner around all the hoses in the engine compartment with no changes. I have a stock air manifold on the way. I dont know what else to check!

Have you pulled any codes yet?

Theory: some sensor's input is being discarded and your EEC may be in limp mode

Only codes are for the O2 sensors, since there are no cats

That's a KOER code?

On the 2000, there are 4 O2 sensors, correct? Two pre-cat two after-cat?

Did the problem happen to surface at the same time as the no-cat transition?

Negative. It started after water was introduced to my engine bay via the functional hood scoop the PO "installed". I do somewhat suspect the AZ CAI, but I have tightened every hose clamp I can find on it. Im clueless at this point. The code is KEEO.

Have you tried pulling the salt and pepper shakers apart and cleaning them out to ensure there's no trapped moisture?

(... and yes, I'm spitballing here)

Sounds like two things to me... 1. You need MIL eliminators for the downstream O2 sensors. If there are no sensors in the holes, that may be a problem too. 2. Check for vacuum leaks. Carb cleaner doesn't always work.

I thought about that too but he said it ran fine before with no changes to the sensors.

I recently put in an off road H pipe. There's been snow so I haven't had much time to work with it. I made my own MIL eliminators and I get no codes on the down stream O2 sensors. But I'm getting a code on Bank 1 O2 upstream. My cars running like crap. From the 13 years I've owned it, when it ran like this it was ALWAYS vacuum leaks. (Exactly like you are describing.) I had to have it "smoked" before to find the leak. Now I'm not so sure this isn't exhaust pipe related. The one sensor that is triggering is about 3 inches further down the pipe than on the stock one. I'm not sure if that could cause bad reading thus bad computer output. I'll be swapping it out tonight or tomorrow.

You know, this does bring up and interesting point. Even if the car was running fine before while throwing codes for the after-cat sensors, the possibility exists that one (or more) of the pre-cat sensors might be bad now.

You wouldn't know because you've been throwing codes for O2 sensors all along.

Check the relationship between the O2 sensor and the k-member. FWIW, my motor mounts are somewhat worn out and the passenger side O2 sensor stem was very close to my k-member due to the design of the Magnaflow x-pipe. I was going through O2 sensors weekly, until I noticed all the damaged sensors had about a 3-5* bend in the stem. Turns out they would touch the k-member when the engine was moving against the worn mounts. I re-installed my MAC o/r H-pipe because the fitting location is in a non-interference position and all is well now.

Long story short, make sure you have at least a couple inches between the sensor stem and the k-member/frame.

I have a vaccum guage. Where and how do I check for vaccum?

Me and a buddy were checking out the car this morning when I got off. He asked me if it was the stock throttle body, because he heard it sucking air up by the tb when he goosed it. I have no clue if it is or not. How would I know?

Also, its not sticking all the time now. When I push in the clutch, sometimes it comes straight down to 1100. Others, it hangs at 1400 for a few second then comes down to 1100. I know that 1100 is normal though. just not 1400 or 1600.

The KOEO codes are PO430 and PO420. Tips on how and where to try the vaccum guage?

P.S.- I just unplugged the IAC, it did not effect the engine at all. I also unplugged all the vacuum lines I could find one at a time. The only one that almost killed the engine was the line that goes in to the left side of the throttle body. Not the big one with the black box on it, the one to the left of that.

Took the CAI off today. The inside of the pipe is covered with oil. Its being sucked in from the vent on the driver side valve cover. So Im pretty much screwed right?

In addition, the CAI piping is pathetic. The hose clamps holding the silicone sleeves on are stripped.
