Seriously. I think Eric Bana would have been cool, but too big a name. Maybe finding a car mag columnist with personality would have been good. James May was a writer for a car mag before Top Gear. They should have just started with two good cast members anyway.

Good point.

Either way, the current cast blows. I think changing the cast would help the show an immense amount. Tanner Foust is a great driver but really lacks in the entertainment department, I got tired of Supercars Exposed partially because it was boring... a hard thing to do when it's a show about super cars.

I agree, Tanner Foust is an excellent driver, but is boring as ****!!! I think the cast should have been Tim Allen, Jay Leno, and another more entertaining person. Right now they have a great driver, a redneck, and a badafuco...not gonna cut it. They should however make Tanner Foust the american Stig...although he would probably just throw every car sideways into every turn.

Leno would have to just do it and write it off as charity work, haha From a commentary/humor standpoint, I really like Penn Jillette (Penn & Teller), but I don't think he's much of a car guy. My favorite car guy of course is still Leno, but he said he'd never do it because the corporate sponsors would take the honesty away from the reviews, which is totally true. One way or another, they would need to be some more familiar faces up there to grab some initial interest at least, like Charlize Theron

This past Sunday's episode was actually pretty funny. The premise of the episode was a lot more BBC Top Gear'esq than the previous 2 episodes. I think they will continue to get better as time goes on and the actors get more comfortable with the roll. Like many have said before, the first few BBC Top Gear episodes were pretty bad, but now look at it. I'm not saying the american one will ever be as good, but it has potential.

And here's for all who agreed that Jay Leno and Tim Allen should be hosts...in fact, if you look down at the comments on the video, someone suggests that they should be the hosts of Top Gear America.

Allen and Leno doing that show would be awesome b/c they are both well known car nuts and Allen is a big Mustang fan to begin with. And throw Kenny Block in there for the third guy
