I have tried automotivetouchup.com before. The color they show now for code 3 is called poppy red.
I got small bottles from them in the past. I got 1 of the color and 1 of the clear coat. Both were very thick. At that time it was called bright red.
Would a paint pen be better?
I have small touchups. One that is always needed is where the hood up by the windshield
When it closes nicks the fender. I try to be careful but when I watch out for one side the other side gets nicked.

It really depends on how good of a touch-up you want.

I've done several variations:

Touch-up, done.
----
Mask, Touch-up, light sand/smooth, clear.
----
Mask, Touch-up with airbrush, light sand/smooth, clear.

Now, in full disclosure, I am not a body guy. But I have had pretty good success with the methods above.

Some of these guys on here tho, are body work magicians so, they may have better advice.

Also... Youtube university!
