Sorry, I thought the part about using the upper shaft was an explanation but beyond that I couldn't answer. Gearbangers response is what I've been told numerous times including the Chilton's manual for the car and makes sense. The Chilton's specifically states not to go more than 50 mi and no faster than 35mph if I remember the numbers correctly.
