Tranny Fluid Question?

If you want to come over to my place here, we could do it. It's actually pretty easy, but there are a couple things that will make it easier.

The drain and fill plug will both take a 3/8" drive ratchet -- just the square part, no socket. They are both on the right hand side of the tranny, right on top of each other. Take the fill plug out first so you know you can refill it. Then drain the tranny. I like to let the car down or jack up the other side with the drain plug out so I get as much has possible out. Then the easiest way to refill is with a hand pump, you can get one at auto-parts stores. It will take more than 2 quarts, so you will need 3 of your favorite ATF. Pump it into the fill hole until it starts to run out. Then I like to lower the car again so it's level and evens itself out, then put the plug back in.

That's all there is to it.

Probably plan for a couple hours to get it done from start to finish if you've never done it before.

5.6 quarts to be exact im a mechanic and i looked it up in the computer when i did mine.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're talking about an automatic and dropping the pan, because if you tried put 6 quarts of fluid in a T5 or a Tremec it would probably be flowing out of the shifter hole and all over the sides of the tranny. That would be the only way to even get it in there -- through the shifter hole; the fill plug won't even let you put that much in.

Viperos doesn't have an automatic, so he will be putting less than 3 quarts in his tranny.
