I would vote for 5 speed. I have a Tremec T5 in mine and absolutely love it. Are you going to just cruise around mostly then an AOD might be a better choice. If you are going to drive in a spirited manner alot then T5. Its really hard for me to vote for just one, since I don't know what your car is setup like and what you really like. Do you like shifting gears?

I'd vote T5 unless you hate shifting.

Only reason I like autos is for drag racing, unless you go clutchless. LOL

Vote for 5-Speed

I have a T5Z for my car. I can't wait to get it on the road! I like how a stick car burbles and pops when you let of the throttle in gear.

I love my T-5. I dont get to use 5th much up here on these mountain passes. Best thing is no linkage rattling because there is no linkage.

I voted for the 5 speed only because that's what I have now (upgraded from toploader) .... but this is probably one of the most personal choices a man can make - so strap it on and make it!! .... the important thing here is that you are keeping the legend alive .... do what you want based on how you want to drive .... for my 67 I like a stick -- all of my other cars have had auto's because I don't want to drive a stick on the DC beltway ....

Here are my choices in order:

5-speed, 5-speed, 5-speed.

I've driven all of them and the OD allows you to run lower rear gears and still low rpms on the highway. Best of both worlds.

I also love the 5 speed...
I can see an AOD in stop and go traffic or driving in a hilly city (SF) but for fun and performance, 5 speed for the win.

I enjoy my 5spd in my 05. Fun to drive, blah blah... But a car with a Stall and Hard shifting auto is pretty cool too.
