Car has been running fine. Took the A/C and smog off over 2 weeks ago. Noticed improved performance, but running a little rough until reaching operating temperature. Then it runs way better than before I took the smog off.

Today, on the way home (cruise control on 65), I get a check engine light for about 30 seconds, then it goes out. about a minute later, it does it again. No noticeable change in how the engine is running. Third time, it starts bogging really bad, like full throttle, and bearly running. No power at all. I pull over onto the shoulder, and it starts intermittently running better, finally regain full power, then limp off the highway. It's running normal, then at a light, when it turns green, it can't accelerate at all--heavy gas, no power--almost like no spark on a bunch of the cylinders. I limped it home and put it in the garage. I probably won't have time to pop the hood before Friday, but wanted suggestions on where to start my search?

minor mods are all listed in the sig.

Thanks,
Greg

Greg, I hate to say it but you really gotta get us some codes. If you have even a spare couple minutes, get the KOEO codes so we can try to start coming up with ideas. Because the issue is intermittant, without codes, it's going to be a PITA to diagnose.

Ah Shucks. Let's get brave and make some guesses. Dirty MAF, clogged cats. Just kidding, fault codes would definitely be a plus.

<sorry, best codes I could come up with>

OK--school me. I'd be glad to get codes, but my experience is with cars that are about 30 years older--how do I get these codes???

Whisky Tango Foxtrot, the sparrow has found his way again.

A couple of links:

(note your test connector is indeed on the passenger side (firewall) of the engine bay).

You might find it easiest to just get a LCD code reader from your local auto parts store. They go for about 30 bucks and make it much easier to grab codes IMHO.

Good luck.
