I dont think that would be a wise thing to do (or even possible) since our load is based off the maf signal...and our eec is based on that load. It would be like at best going back to SD...and from my lookings (buddy has a 94 gen 1 lightning) little bit of reading on SD....unless you go high end standalone (like F.A.S.T.) keep the maf.
You can get rid of the o2's. but that is more "old school" since the tweecer gives so much abitlity to just make it drive like a stocker even with preaty radical setups.
Realy there is no reason not to pass smog with a maf car...its not so much the maf but the little things that need to be changed. Alittle fine tune at idle with the maf prob. or going to forced OL (or is it CL, I always get them mixed, were the o2's are forced off). to fix a fat idle at most.
Now if your running a 800+rwhp pushrod that makes power well over 7,500rpm then you realy should be looking at a whole aftermarket efi setup.
If you undo the maf I am preaty sure it would go into "limp" mode and run like arse. I realy dont think there is a way to turn if off.
on a side note--
damn those 87sd mild bolton foxes sure did run like mad v. a maf fox with a few boltons.
i ran my car for 4 months with no maf--it ran better without it. most manuf have a map as a backup to a maf and state a side effect is better driveability.
with my cam i have tried sd with no luck--obviously.
