twisted wedge heads valve covers

When I get a new set of heads can I use my stock valve covers?

yes, however depending on what rockers you use, you may need to trim the filler baffle.

What about 1.6 rockers. Do I just put the valve cover on annd see if it hits the rocker.

mine are 1.6 crane gold rockers. it depends more on the brand you are using. my baffle was trimmed up as well.

I have Trick Flow 1.6 rockers and they fit the stock covers with no clearance problems.

I run the Trick Flow Rockers. They are CONSIDERABLY smaller than many of the RRs out there but you'll still have to trim and grind down the baffle on the stock covers to make them fit. Either that, or you'll have to run a pretty thick gasket.

Thanks is there a good place to buy these heads. I was just thinking summit racing.

The TW heads have the valve cover flange raised. IIRC, it is by .300"

This adds a fair amount of RR clearance.


I *think* other head manufacturers do something similar, but the exact dimension may be different.

I put the Canton Racing ones on and I think they are B E A Utiful, but if ya gotta run stockers then the advice herein has been sufficient. You may need to trim the baffle...
