Last night I checked EBAY for 67 Mustangs and searched by items newly listed. Low and behold there was a 67 Shelby with a BuyItNow for $9000.00 including shipping and a 67 K Code Fastback for $5800. Well I bought both of them knowing full well they are scammers. I ended up getting contacted first by the guy selling the Shelby. His story was his dad just died and he just wanted $9000.00 for it and he would ship it for free from PORTUGAL??? All he wanted me to do was to go ahead and Western Union wire him $3500 for a down payment and I would get the car to my door in 5-7 days.

see attached email

Hello there!
I have researched and tested different payment methods and the
cheapest ones are the
slowest. I have found one that it is the fastest,to make the
deposit.
Their fees are high, but since
I want to make this deal as soon as possible and I believe you are
too, I will beprepared to cover 50% of the Western Union wire transfer
fee.
I will choose to use this service as I will have access to the funds
very fast and I will ship you the car with the delivery career
in max 12-14 hours after I receive the deposit payment confirmation
from
you.
As mentioned in my previous emails, I prefer to use KLM 5-7 days air
insured for shipping and I will cover shipping and insurance charges.
I have told you from the beginning that you will cover 50% of the
Western Union wire transfer fee so, please do not consider it a "hidden
charge".
In total, you will need to pay the buy now the deposit price which is
3,000
USD plus the
Western Union fee.
For the Western Union wire transfer, you will need my name and
address:

Musa Sarier
Rua Del Flores 12
Lisabo 21541
Portugal

Please email me your full name and shipping address before complete the
payment.
If you can arrange the payment with Western Union wire transfer in a
few
hrs,
I will ship you he car with KLM 5-7 2 days air insured in max 10-12
hrs.
They will shipp to the nearest airport and from there a person will
bring
the car at your
door.

The second scammer really worked hard at his ploy by first highjacking someomes great EBAY ID then really added a lot of Ebay jargon to make him sound legit. And then wanted me to wire him some $$
See attached email

THANK YOU FOR TAKING THOSE OFF EBAY!! I tried contacting as many of the bidders as I could to inform them at least of the K Code bullcrap.

Remember that same A-Hole tried to sell it on some classic car.com type site?

I just want to ring his/her neck...

There is always 2 people selling 65 fb's and Eleanor clones really cheap.. Telling you to get on the approved bidder list. I once inquired about the 65 and he told me to wire the money in a made up name. Then change the name after I had received the car and he would pick up the money... A fully restored 65 fb with custom leather interior, custom sound, for 5K....No way!

How does one expect to escape the law with this crap though? For that matter, how do they even get authorized to place their item on ebay? Or is it a one name one time deal for them? I don't sell or buy on there for mainly the reason that there is no screening process and stuff like this is seemingly all to easy to pull off.

I dont' know how they do it, but the name listing one of the items had over 250 'comments'...Hell, for a 67fb @ $5800 Buy It Now, I'd put the dang thing on a credit card until I could arrange financing...however, I've become overly suspicious and cynical in regards to ebay vehicles.

Thanks for alerting us (me). I have never bid on ebay for cars and now am VERY leery. A road tip to look and buy that special car even halfway across the country always makes for a better "how I got it" story anyway.

Oddly enough though, I just read an article in MM about a guy that snagged a miracle car on ebay. It was a 67' 390 coupe, 51,000 original miles and pristine original paint and interior, almost every oddball deluxe option too, I mean a super "my husband died" barn story come true, so it can't all be bad and miracles still can happen, but there is a lot of junk to wade thru to get to it I guess.

How about the condition of the original stainless steel interior, the hard to come by warning lights. They never gave a price, but since it was "buy it now", it probably wasn't a whole lot.

They are still emailing me for the wire transfer. There are a few crooks doing this scam and I hope no one is falling for it. I just floors me that the folks at ebay have not stopped this. The hijacking of Ebay ID's is bad enough but these scammers are really dropping Ebay's value in my eyes. See their latest email:

In order to be able to process your order we need the mtcn and the sender's full name and address that you filled in on the transfer request. As soon as we receive from you the transfer details we will check the payment and immediately contact eBay Warehouse to ship the car to you.

Thank you

I wonder how big that eBay Warehouse really is??

So can you in turn hurt your status by selecting buy it now and then defaulting on these guys?

I would simply reply to them that you must first have your appraiser go to the ebay warehouse and inspect the merchandise but you can't seem to find an address for it.
